We've been working today

Today, my husband, Vince, and I have been helping Vince’s brother with some house maintenance. He is replacing his guttering and will also be taking down the old patio and installing a new one.
Today, we removed most of the old guttering then use wire brushes to remove the old, flaking paint. The brushes were attached to power tools. In the upper photo you can see the two men hard at work. In the lower photo, the silver-coloured patch is my effort. I didn’t do very much. I found it quite hard work and I’m hoping I won’t have cramping in my shoulders tonight.
We are off to bed in a minute as we’re more tired than usual. We used to be able to work all day but those days have gone. Hopefully, we’ll bounce back tomorrow as we need to do more of the same. We might even get to the stage of starting to paint the fascia boards that we’ve cleaned up.

Thanks. We've had quite a few over the hot weather but we've enjoyed helping with this project.@sunrisefan (28524)

@JudyEv That is why you both won't get old fast because you are busy bodies.

I've noticed that when I try to do the kind of work I did 10 years ago I end up needing 2 days to fully recover so now I try to do half of that and it works out better for me. I hate that I can't do what I used to but am really glad I can do as much as I've been able to do.

I'm betting that given your age you are probably very fit and strong, it would be unusual for anyone to be as fit as they were in their 40s once they reach their 70s. At least you're capable and not sickly.

On your bit there, did you remove the paint with the power tool? I sure hope you are not aching too Judy.
I so love those types of roofs too by the way.
You dont see those around here very often.

@JudyEv Yes the lovely tiled roofs so nice.
Yeah that power tool might give you a time with the shoulders.
I have a drill also with the scrubby things I can attach I know what you mean.

I hope the work is rewarding, at least. It's not something I'd like to be doing even when I was younger. (I've never worked out in the sun. I overheat much too easily. I still mow the yard but am glad Pretty does half of it now.)
Make sure everyone stays hydrated. And you all my notice you want more salt than you're used to eating. And be careful.

@JudyEv Sorry. I know you already know all that. I just don't want anything happening to you or Vince. (I think of you as part of my family and have for several years now.

@DaddyEvil That's lovely that that's how you perceive us.
And when you care for someone, you can't help reminding them to be careful or whatever.

Whenever I use powered hand tools for any length of time the vibration seems to continue long after the tools have been put away. I hope there are no aches and pains from your efforts!

@SophiaMorros Haha - so true. Nobody likes 'uncomfortable consequences'.

Glad you were able to help. Be careful. Are you sure Vince should be doing things like that out in the heat? Surely, there was someone more able to tolerate the work and heat available.

Thanks for your concern. We paced ourselves and more or less knocked off at lunch-time. Today we did something different. I think his daughter and grandsons will now finish off the paint removal. And we're not going there at all for two days as it's supposed to be hot again.

That's a lot of hard work! Here, we would need specialized folks to do things like this.
Some of our society water pipes and shafts are getting changed but that is quite different.
Here it now feels very spring like these days.
