Who said, "Two Hearts Are Better Than One?" Well, a few artists actually did, but I'm going with my fellow Jerseyite Bruce Springsteen on this one. And to honor Valentine's Day I thought a "lovely" selection of my favorite rock tunes expressing the word "love" would be appropriate. So, let's get this romantic "lovefest" started with a playlist of a few of my favorite songs complete with some trivia tidbits. Enjoy "The Boss's video. A terrific live performance of the E-Street band's "Two Hearts," so stirring even Cupid's heart will skip a beat listening to this one! And now some songs of love. See if you like any of them enough to make your Valentine's playlist. 1. The Beatles/"All My Loving" - I mean with lyrics like "All my loving I will give to you," how can you omit this one! Fun fact: This was the first song the group played on their Ed Sullivan Show appearance: February 9, 1964. It was a historic telecast, as over 73 million people tuned in. 2. The Beatles/"All You Need Is Love"- Had to stick with another "FAB" song from those lads from Liverpool. A simply put title that means so much... Fun fact: This song was used in the first worldwide TV special in 1967. The show was broadcast to over 24 countries. With its simple message of peace and love it fit right in with the 60's summer of love vibe. 3. Spencer Davis Group/"Gimme Some Lovin'"- What better Valentine's request of your love than that on this special day. Fun fact: Steve Winwood lead singer of the band was just 17 years old when he wrote this song. 4. The Tymes/"So Much In Love"- A doo-wop classic about a guy so taken with a girl he just can't wait to marry her. Now, doesn't this song just ooze romance on this romantic day! 5. Stevie Wonder/"I Just Called To Say I Love You"- I know it's a sappy song, but a guy calling his special girl to express how much he loves her is as sweet as a box of candy. Fun fact: This #1 tune used in the movie "Woman In Red" won an Oscar for Best Original Song in 1985, beating out 5 other #1 nominated songs, a first. 6. Led Zepplin/"Whole Lotta Love"- This 1969 classic from the "Zep" makes the guy's intentions perfectly clear...he's ready to give her all of his love - every inch! Fun fact: The song's guitar riff was voted the greatest of all time by listeners of BBC Radio 2 in a 2014 poll. 7. Robert Palmer/"Bad Case of Loving You"- seems Robert needed the services of a Physician on this tune as the title is also called "Doctor Doctor." Anyway, what a compliment to that lucky lady. Fun fact: Mr. Palmer wasn't done with that Doctor either following up this big hit with another love song called "Addicted To Love." 8. Elvis/"Love Me Tender"- Now that's well said! A little TLC from the heart goes a long way on this amorous day. Fun fact: Elvis made 31 movies in his acting career. This 1956 tune was the theme song of the movie of the same name, and first of the many he recorded. #1 on the charts and in one's heart. 9. The Young Rascals/"Good Lovin"- This #1 tune was the band's first big hit. Although they weren't happy with the recording, I but bet they loved the outcome. I mean, who doesn't want some Good Lovin' either with your partner or on the charts, 10. The Beatles/"And I Love Her"- Let's finish our "love-in" where we began, with my favorite "Mop Tops," a band that seemed to have the corner on love songs in those early years. And this song is no exception. What spouse doesn't want to hear those words. Fun fact: This is one of the most-covered Beatles songs, with well over 300 recorded versions. Their most-covered track is "Yesterday." Now, if you were going to choose "one favorite love song" what would it be? Maybe it's already on this playlist or if it isn't, feel free to name one of your own selections. Source- Wikipedia & songfacts.com

That was some exciting event for sure! Beatlemania and the British invasion followed. They say George was recovering from a sore throat on that first appearance, but they sounded great anyway. Any songs from my list of tunes would you rate #1?

My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed the songs. "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours," would of fit in nicely too. Let's add love at the end and include it "All My Love" is another Led Zep song I also considered. And Palmer used love in a title again in "Addicted To Love"

Huge Beatles fan so that's an easy choice for me. "And I Love Her" is a favorite love titled song and for just love songs "Something" is one of the best Frank Sinatra considered it the best love song ever written and I'm not arguing with the Chairman of The Board, lol. Enjoy...

My first Valentine’s Day countdown was “love” songs from both country and pop. The winners were: “Secret Love” by Doris Day “All for the Love of a Girl” by Johnny Horton I also had Poco (“Crazy Love”), Elvis (“Burning Love”), and Percy Sledge (“Warm and Tender Love”) in the mix.

Doris Day and Rock Hudson were a terrific team in the movies. Ah, Que Será, Será (Whatever Will Be, Will Be). Elvis can definitely provide a hunk of burning love I also like Percy's version of When A Man Loves A Women sung beautifully by the R&B/Soul singer. Funny, I was going to use "Crazy Love" (by one of my favorite Country Rock bands) in my list, a great song with terrific harmonies, but I needed a tune with a happier lyric, one which reflected Valentine love. Rusty wrote of mentally breaking away from the memory of a past lover, and not to cry when he thinks of her, but to move on. It is an empowering message of hope. And something I've experienced myself.

Wow! Amazing songs, every single one of them! I'm a life long Bruce fan so I love seeing you mentioning him. I like his dancing songs the best, Tenth Avenue Freeze Out and E Street Shuffle being my two of my favorites. I honestly don't think BRRUUUUUUUUCCCEEE can write a bad song.
