He said he wanted out

Tinker said he wanted out this morning, but he didn't. All the north facing windows on our house are coated in a thick layer of ice. The wind is whistling loudly. The district ended our suspense at 8:30 last night and cancelled school for today. We were the very last district to cancel. I read online people making fun of us for cancelling schools and I read how they attended school in six inch deep snow. They walked. If schools were walking distance, I could possibly see that for us or a delayed start . The closest school from my town is ten miles. It was a balmy 47 F or 8.4 C when I went to bed. It isn't about the snow. It is the fact that the weather event started so late at night that it would have been dangerous for road maintainers to get out, and fruitless, since it was to last hours. It is about the wind, that takes out power lines. It drives the ice into all cracks. Our front door was frozen shut. Not too badly, I could push it open. So as daylight breaks we shall see when Tinker wants out. He and Lady are playing chase throughout the house.

We're supposed to get freezing rain and then snow as the day progresses. Currently, it's 7°C/45°F and raining. The temperature has already dropped a degree in the last hour. And I heard that Great Britain is bracing for their own extreme weather later today.

Makes me quite nervous when there is this kind of weather.

So @BarBaraPrz our weather was much the same. We did not get as much snow here as predicted, but that ice surely did linger.@marlina do you live anywhere near @BarBaraPrz ?

Maybe those 2 will want to stay inside today. It's not as cold here as it is where you are but for me it's cold, it's 54f.

Oh, I like 54. Tinker went out mid day and stayed out somewhere for several hours. Angel went out but only for a couple of hours then was stomping her little feet wanting back in. Lady is my homebody. Her favorite place to be is watching out a window.

Lady is the smart one, she knows it's safer inside than out.

Scary to have a door frozen shut.

It was not too solid. I do have two other functional doors to the outside and one more that I have blocked off.

County schools have a lot more trouble getting there safely than city schools do.

And many districts around here are country schools. Small town locations fed into by even smaller towns.

For me, all this is really interesting. I just commented to LInda about ice and snow fallling off the roof and now I'm reading about doors getting frozen shut. It's a totally different world where you are.

I do not even live where the worst is, but you are right, our worlds can be very different. We do get a little peek at our neighbors through the lens of myLot.

Some people are not happy unless they are being negative.

@GardenGerty right. Though not all negativity is bad or from "negative people"
