Lashing Down Mr H's House

Storm Eunice is passing and may well have set a wind speed record of 122 MPH. In my part of the world it is forecast to maybe hit 90 MPH. To be on the safe side, I lashed down Mr H's house. It is quite heavy, but the roof could lift off fairly easily. I have just checked on him and he is snug inside. Hopefully this weather should blow through fairly soon. Yes, that is Mr Hissy in the foreground. As soon as I appear he thinks it is time for another breakfast, and so it was!

@Ronrybs - I am glad the storm was not as bad as predicted. Mr Hissy is spoiled, even his tea inside his little house.

It didn't get as windy as it could have, but still a bit breezy. I put his lunch inside his house and his tea as well. I think he'll be outside for supper. Tommy was made of sterner stuff and ate in the open!

You are very wise to anchor down Mr. H's house, those high winds could endanger his life:)

@Ronrybs The wind is blowing like crazy off Lake Huron, early March winds.

It didn't get as breezy as forecast, but better to be on the safe side. He seemed quite comfortable inside when I went to check on him

@kobesbuddy I suspect that blowing in off a flat surface doesn't help

I'm glad you made sure he and his house were secure before the big storm blows through. And I'm thinking about getting a second breakfast this morning, too. I hope you both weather the storm alright.

Not as bad as forecast and now it is calm. Mr H had his lunch and tea inside, but he'll probably be in his usual spot for supper!

@DaddyEvil Since that is mainly sleeping and chasing the other moggies around, it was a good day for him!

Mr H is Mr Hissy, a rather handsome black cat who moved into my garden in the summer of 2019. He is a nice old stick, so I got him some cat cabins, which are used by other cats.

He doesn't want one everyday, but when I see him waiting I always give him some extra 'nosh'!

All gone for the moment. I do have a bit of the neighbour's shed roof in my garden, but it is shredded, so I doubt he'll want it back!

I have my cat, Gaia, who came from a shelter. Mr H moved into the garden in 2019, from where I know not and he stayed, so I made him comfy and has stayed. When he first arrived he would hiss all the time, so that's where his name came from. He hasn't hissed at me in ages and after much head scratching I recently heard him purring! He will come into the kitchen, but he doesn't like the door being closed. Maybe one day I shall entice him to stay

We didn't get it so bad, that 122 was on the Isle of Wright, in the Channel so right in the teeth of the strom. Still, it was pretty breezy, now we are expecting rain. It is a great weekend!

Good idea. Most things are OK here but the wind did take the roof clean off the wooden playhouse in the garden.

@Ronrybs Luckily our playhouse roof only just lifted off and came down in the bushes right beside it, undamaged. Anyway glad Mr H is fine and hope he appreciates all the special care you give him

that's what I was mainly worried about, the roof of his house isn't fixed. It didn't get as bad as forecast down here, but part of the neighbour's shed roof ended up in my garden!

We're just hearing about the terrible winds and weather over there. That was a good idea to tie down Mr Hissy's roof. I hope your own will stay attached too.

@Ronrybs we saw pretty incredible scenes tonight on our news bulletin. Iron rooves peeled off like so much paper and the roof of a big arena also got shredded. It's good the neighbour's roof was just a tarpaulin and not something more solid.

@JudyEv I watched a bit of the news and a live feed from the SW coast on the day itself. Glad I live here!

All things considered we got off lightly. The neighbour's shed roof is in my garden, but shredded, so I doubt he'll want it back. It was just a tarpaulin and had been there for years, so not a great surprise.
