Odd socks maybe but odd shoes?

I’ve just read a post by RufoLisa (@Shavkat) who said he inadvertently wore odd socks. You can catch up here: https://www.mylot.com/post/3497864/i-wasnt-myself-when-my-left-sock-did-not
It reminded me of a teacher who was addressing a roomful of adult students when she looked down and discovered she was wearing odd shoes.
What made it worse was that she was lecturing on how to better care for people with Alzheimer’s. It’s an easy thing to do though.
Photo is of my bedsocks. They may look odd to you but I have a second pair just like these.

They look comfortable, and that's what's important.

They look pretty much the same except for the color.

When I come up with an odd sock, it goes into the bottom drawer of my dresser until I lose another sock just like it. Then I put the new pair together and put them in the top dresser drawer with all the other matching socks.

@JudyEv All of my socks match. I wear the black no-see-um socks.

@DaddyEvil Vince has a heap that are all the same which makes matching easier for sure.

I love your socks.
That would be embarrassing to have shoes like that

heard that joke before. Yes, odd socks I would wear but odd shoes in public would be terrible.

That’s one good thing about not going Imelda Marcos on the shoe buying.

I think there is not real problem with wearing odd sock but odd shoes is carrying a bit too far

In India there is a trend of girls using odd coloured nail polishes and ear rings

Many years ago when I was a college student, I looked down at my feet in class and discovered that I was wearing one navy-blue shoe and one black shoe. I was very self-conscious about it at the time! One of my children showed up for supper this evening with mismatched socks. He said he needed to do laundry and this was all that he could find that was clean. Interestingly, this led to a conversation about one of his housemates (and siblings) who is known for accidentally stealing socks and treating them as her own.

We went to a meeting once and the headmaster had odd socks. But I've never put on odd shoes. I have worn a blouse inside out once but luckily there were only a few other people in the room and one of them kindly told me. I've decided to put such events down to being eccentric!!

My best friend wears odd socks always. On principle. It's actually a habit she shares with actor Matthew Gray Gubler of Criminal Minds fame. Apparently some people believe it's bad luck to wear matching socks, which was something my friend learned from a relative of hers and something MGG learned from I believe his grandmother. I can't do it personally because my OCD won't let me, lol. But I do think it's kind of a cute habit.

@akruser13 We'll go with that explanation. A much better idea.

I'm happy with all of that but if it's unlucky to wear matching socks, there must be a lot of people who have bad luck!

@JudyEv That's what I was thinking lmao! Maybe it's not so much unlucky for everyone else, but super lucky for you if you wear them unmatching?

We used to have a Wacky-Tacky Dress day at school during Spirit Week in February preceding the annual basketball tournament. Wearing odd shoes was always a major part of the wacky way the kids would dress.
I would participate by wearing odd socks and a neck tie with a golf shirt.

@JudyEv The kids' favorite is pajama day. We have to set very strict rules about what type of pajamas they are allowed to wear.
Years ago, when I was teaching middle school, one year it was a young, first-year teacher who took it too far. She showed up in a teddy. She did wear a bra and thong underneath. Still, her 8th-grade homeroom boys were drooling all over themselves. The principal sent her home to change once she heard.

My husband had two similar pairs of shoes and took a pair of them with us on a cruise. The problem was he took one from each pair and they were both for the left foot! He insisted on wearing them! He was mostly in a wheelchair by then so he said it didn't matter

Sometimes when my feet are cold during the winter months I will randomly grab socks to put on to keep my feet warm, and more often than not I grab an odd pair. But since I am just wearing them around the house, I don't really care too much! haha

@JudyEv Do you really care about wearing odd socks when someone sees you? Haha

@moffittjc Odd socks don't worry me but holey shorts might.

A neighbor with a chromosome 13 disorder often wears mismatched socks. We (she included) look at it as, "at least she covered her feet."
