But wait - how about thousands? Quite possible if you happened to be among the "celebrity" members of writing sites like Bubblews and others during their heyday.
I do not recall the highest amount of followers l managed to attract back in the day, but when last l checked my page, l saw 426. - of that number l recognized about 60.
Which brings me to these questions: What is the purpose of the follower, and how does the follower and followed benefit?
How many do you have at the moment, and do you follow back everyone who follows you ?
Finally - What may influence your decision to follow or not to follow?

Those we follow end up in our discussion box, as things to read. Those who are following me, they come to read my discussions. My writings appear in their discussion box. It's an exchange of material, to rack up pennies. Do I fully understand? No.

@Kandae11 No, because there is nothing to suggest all 200 people would like everything you write.

Allegedly people follow you because they think you are interesting. In actuality people follow you for any or no reason. You can suggest discussions written by other people to those that follow you (and anyone you follow can suggest discussions for you to read). You can use the lists under 'Follows' at the top of your screen to concentrate on activity only from those you follow, if you so wish. I personally have never found any real advantage to it since there are not thousands and thousands of active members.

@Kandae11 Not to me, a friend "follower" is a friend.

The purpose to follow is that instead of checking the "Most Recent Discussions" you can only check those of people you follow if you have not a lot of time to be here. Several months ago there were many more discussions every day, now I just look at the most recent. Followers can be an annoyance when you want to suggest something. Many are no more active but you get the full list if you want to suggest. It takes forever to get rid of followers, you must visit the profile, block and unblock, it's the only way.

I am still trying to understand Mylot.
I wish someone would give me a step to step guide as how to earn more here.Or what contributes to higher earnings.
However the persons who are reeling in the big bucks just keep the info to themselves. Each time I ask how did you achieve this amt so quickly. All I hear is just interact.
I do interact when I have the time but I am not getting the big bucks.
When you find the secret formula let me know. can anyone help us out?

There is no one keeping any info to themselves. You earn for received interaction from other users. Full stop. They are getting a lot of interaction from other users.

I have no idea why some want to "collect" so many to follow. I don't follow everyone that follows me. It's too much. I have 54 I follow on FB and sometimes if I haven't had any interaction with some for a long period, I drop them.
I have 568 followers here and yet only about 20 come to most of my posts.
I follow only 98 here. and I go to their posts when I see one or, when they come to one of mine.

@Kandae11 I don't. can't. It's why I cut them down now and then. Why? How many you got?

I've never taken much notice of who is following me but I've just looked and I have 558 followers and am following 74. I don't actively seek out my followers, I just go to the most recent and the top discussions., and respond to the interesting ones. Of course I have some favourite people here but I wouldn't know if they are following me or not.

In the entire time I've been active on myLot, I've never once looked at how many people follow me, or how many I follow. Just checked for the first time. I have 558 people following me, and I follow 410 back. I wouldn't be surprised if less than 50 of them are still active.

My take is that I never pay much attention to the number simply because most people don't actually follow, I find. I have almost 2000 followers on noise, for example, and the average response rate on my posts is about 30. So, I just go about doing what I do and ignore the number.

That is why l cannot see the benefit in large numbers. Imagine having 1000 followers - even if 200 of that number are active you should be able to receive at least 30 to 50 responses when you post a discussion, because the full 200 may not like every thing you post.

Nope, that's not correct, at least not with me. I write so few discussions that if I only talked to those who talked to me first, I might as well not bother being here. I check the "Most Recent Discussions" list and talk with anyone who has written an interesting-to-me discussion.
There are a lot of people here who won't talk to me, no matter how many times I try to initiate a discussion with them. It's annoying. After a few tries, I stop trying to talk to them, no matter how interesting I find their discussions.

I have 513 followers right now and some are gone and do not know where they went to and there are some I do not follow because not sure they will be around very long. I have people I have known for a long time that I like to follow and they follow me too. You asked good questions. I just hope I answered you.

I am glad that I answered your questions. They were very interesting ones. Yes, either people have gone on to other things or for whatever reason are not here anymore. I have not looked at my follower list but one time when I did I wondered what happened to a lot of the people that used to be here and have no answer. Once in awhile someone would come back but then leave again. Maybe they have very busy lives that they do not have time to be here.
