Should I or Shouldn't I Bake a Cake

Happy Thursday Everyone! we're back to winter after a beautiful day yesterday. Temperatures dropped and it's cold, Snow coming later on, followed by ice/sleet and then rain. Guess we're in for a whole bag of tricks from Mother Nature but hopefully when the rain comes it will just wash away everything that has fallen on the ground beforehand. Otherwise we'll just get more ice if it freezes and then it will be a huge mess. Tonight we're having pasta so I'm making a big batch of marinara sauce in my crockpot. It's so easy peasy and I love having enough leftover to freeze for other meals. I really want to bake a cake today but I'm having an internal battle with myself. The devil on my shoulder says "we need cake" while the angel on my other shoulder says "we don't need all those calories". Right now it's a toss up who wins I try not to eat too many sweets but there are days when my sweet tooth just begs to be fed. My daughter isn't much of a sweet lover. She prefers chips, nuts, pretzels etc whereas I like cake, cookies, ice cream. So if I bake a cake it's doubtful she'll eat much if any. Maybe I could bake the cake and give half of it to my oldest daughter and it would get it out of the house OR I could cut it into slices and freeze them. Decisions, decisions Anyway, it's time for me to have my breakfast and get away from the computer for awhile. I'll be back!!

Yesterday I did not bake a cake. I said to my husband that the day of my birthday I would have liked to buy a cake. So out we went, I bought a black forest cake and at first bite I knew that it would have been better if I baked one.

It’s a sunny and cold day here. I will be baking a cake on Saturday for my hubbys birthday if you really need an excuse to bake a cake you could and refer to it as Anna’s birthday cake….it’s her day!

@Marilynda1225 , Good move. But beware of the temptation now that it is there. The freezer will call you many times.

Stay safe when the ice arrives. A cake is always good. Enjoy your day.

The ice arrived and it's treacherous here. I baked the cake and now i'm glad since I'll have a nice snack during this miserable weather

What about making one of those sugar free cakes? That will lessen the guilt...or making a regular one and not frosting it, so less to feel guilty about.

@BarBaraPrz you give me too much credit for my baking abilities I've never had success with an angel food cake even though I love them. I usually buy one already made when I'm in the mood for angel food.

@snowy22315 I actually made a diet soda cake. Have you ever tried one? all you need is a can of diet soda (I used pepsi) and a box of cake mix. Mix those 2 together and bake. Comes out a bit more dense than if you followed the directions on the box, I used a chocolate cake mix and then had a slice with a dollop of cool whip

It's definitely not the warmest days here either. It can be hard making decisions sometimes. I'm sure things worked out.

From time to time, I get the urge for cake too. I accidentally bought choc-bits instead of choc-melts so I might end up making choc-bit patty cakes.

Bake a cake and share it with your kids..or you could just keep it in the freezer and eat for snacks/desserts.

Glad to know about your routine. I love pasta and cake too. You should bake and eat it if you are craving much. Sometimes it's ok to have what we like. Take care
