Never been that close to a sheep yet. I have seen them from afar but not that close. I see them as very gentle animal indeed since I do not see them bully other animals.

@rsa101 No, rams don't always have horns. It depends on the breed. Some ewes (females) have horns too. Rams are uncastrated males.

Mostly they are gentle although the rams can be aggressive.

@changjiangzhibin89 It's okay. My mother always said that her father said to her when she was upset about losing an animal 'Stock owners must be stock losers' and I try to remember that. We outlive most of our pets.

Oscar became ill and we had to have him put down. He was old and had had a good life up to that point.

I knew somebody who had sheep including one who was bottle fed when he was a baby, but as he grew up he was like that. He had to go to a farm because he became a roughneck.
