A Tale Of Bravery

It happened as the Russian tanks advanced towards a strategic bridge linking Crimea and Ukraine . A Ukrainian soldier was told to go blow up the bridge. The soldier realised that he won't have enough time to set the charges and light the fuse.So what did he do? He blew himself up--and the bridge!.That soldier bravely sacrificed himself for his country. I recall seeing such acts of bravery in World War 2 movies l have watched, but this is no movie - this is real life. I hope things do not escalate into World War 3. Pixabay image

I heard about that and amazing how neat people are when you stop all the BS. I hate the situation hate Putin, but amazing seeing what some our doing to protect their country and freedom. Sad it takes this to see it though. Russia gonna win but they gonna lose in the long run.

@Kandae11 Indeed, war is not pretty never has been never will be and why everyone kind of staying out if because Putin crazy and he will start WW3 just like that. Everyone can do little things to help Ukraine but they kind of on their own even though we all would like to go punch Russia's army and Putin in the throat.

I sincerely hope that things do not escalate into World War 2, but I am pessimist at present.

@Kandae11 - Exactly, Putin menaced all those who will interfere and several European countries yesterday helped Ukraine. I am frightened.

@LadyDuck If l resided in Europe l too would be worried, but we should all feel concern , since a third WW would affect every nation.

We hope, but right now it seems to be heading in that direction. Unless the other world powers decide to let the two countries battle it out alone.

It is sad to note that he has to offer his life for his country but he is brave enough to do it and sacrifice his life for it. Admirable at times of war but very tragic for the family.

Well said. His family may be heartbroken, but the military and others have already hailed him as a hero.

@Kandae11 There always seems to be trouble somewhere in the world. People are too greedy and too power hungry.

@JudyEv Even if different countries were to occupy Mars they would be fighting over land up there.

So sad and wasteful war is. One of many stories of bravery done in the name of country and to save fellow soldiers.

I think of all those families during World Wars 1 and 2 who got the message - your son or sons didn't make it.

Sorry to hear. Yes soldiers are very brave and can do anything for their country, even taking their own lives. I wish this war didn't take place
