If you’re going to talk money you have to talk types of money. So, along with the countdown of songs with “money” in the title, here are the various types of money we have here in the good ol’ U.S. of A. Let’s start out with this one that needs an explanation.
#10: Loan Me a Dime - Boz Scaggs
You see, kiddies, back in the ancient times, there were these things called pay phones. And it cost a dime to make a phone call.
When I played this on the radio in 1982 I said Boz needed to update it to “loan me a quarter.”
Now what? “Loan me your cell phone”?
Anyway, this is one of Boz’s best-known songs…for reasons that have absolutely NOTHING to do with the Boz man. You see, the 13-minute song includes what many critics consider the best guitar work that a Georgia boy ever put on tape. That Georgia boy in question was Duane Allman.
This song shows up on all of Duane’s anthologies, that’s how significant it is to establishing and solidifying his legacy as a guitarist.
It didn’t hurt Boz too badly to show off his singing ability, either.

I've never liked the blues stuff anyway, I was more into bands like Jerry and the Pacemakers, the Beatles and of course CCR ..... oh, and Pink Floyd, Grand Funk Railroad and Deep Purple.
The Doors did a lot of slow stuff too which I couldn't get into.

“Lido Shuffle,” it ain’t.
It’s an old blues song, which should explain everything.

That one was on the candidate list but didn’t make the top ten. Keep up with the “money” countdown ‘cause I’m going to confuse you thoroughly over there.

Aw, come on, I’ll bet you actually used one when you were three or four. And they didn’t cost a dime then, either.

IF you can find a pay phone, it may be 50 cents.

I’ve seen the shells of one or two, but not a real one. I used to find a lot of money in the coin return slot when I was a teenager!

I'm going to go back and listen to "She Works Hard for the Money". This is not my cup of tea.
