My daughter works retail and her “weekend” days are Sunday and Tuesday and she works evenings. Because of her schedule, it is hard for her to find time to hang out with people who work more traditional hours.
My job is pretty flexible. I work from home and have the freedom to adjust my hours however I want as long as I am working my hours each week and maintaining the production quota that is set for my position.
I appreciate that flexibility. It allows me to be available as a hiking buddy for my daughter. This morning we packed up our day packs and took the dog off to Stone Mountain State Park. We spent a couple of hours out on the trail enjoying the fresh air and sunshine!

It's been a beautiful day here, too. In the low 70s and sunny. My daughter and I went out and wandered around in our yard talking about what projects we wanted to work on this year.
I've worked retail most of my life. The odd hours were always a pain in the tush for my friends and I to fit any time in to do stuff together.

Her schedule is part of why I keep the job I have. I like the flexibility of being available for my kids at the drop of the hat. And the job is portable so if my out of town kids need my presence I can be there.

@SophiaMorros Until my mom passed away in 2002, if I needed someone to go with me for any reason, she was always ready to go at the drop of a hat. Now, my daughter and I go and do whatever, whenever.

@DaddyEvil I did not have that sort of a relationship with either of my parents. I'm available for all of my children whenever they need/want something but only one of them turns up on my doorstep with significant frequency.
