No group of Bee Gees songs is complete without either "Stayin' Alive" or "Night Fever". I chose "Night Fever"
"Night Fever" was released as a single in 1977 and on the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack in 1978. "How Deep is Your Love" and "Stayin' Alive" were still on the Billboard Hot 100 when "Night Fever" shot up to #1 and stayed there for 8 weeks -- the longest for any single that year. For one week in March that year 5 of the Bee Gees songs held top positions on the chart. "Night Fever" also captured the #1 spot on various charts in the UK, Spain, Ireland, Canada and Brazil.
Barry, Maurice and Robin came up with the lyrics to the song while hanging out on a staircase which is also how they wrote "New York Mining Disaster 1941".
The string introduction was inspired by the "Theme from a Summer Place" by Percy Faith.

They wrote something like 1,500 songs for themselves and others.

I prefer “Stayin’ Alive,” I guess because of all the other movies it ended up in (it’s also in Foul Play and Airplane!).

I like both "Staying Alive" and "Night Fever" equally. I can't choose between the two.
