A fruitful shopping trip

On Wednesday, Dale and I drove to Raleigh (100 miles) to do some shopping. I wrote that I had found a dress to wear to our granddaughter's wedding in May, but needed to find a cocktail type dress to wear to the rehearsal dinner. Of course I don't wear what a 30 year old would wear, but I still want to look classy and not old. Even though I am, lol. We were prepared to stay in Raleigh as long as it took to find a dress and I found one in the first department store we went in! It's really pretty, silver and black sparkly, knee length. No slit up the side or low cut neckline of course! Just a very pretty dress that's dressy enough to be considered a cocktail dress. The rehearsal dinner is being held at a nice restaurant in downtown Charleston. Now I just have to find shoes to wear for the wedding and the dinner. For the brunch on Sunday, it will be kind of casual, so it shouldn't be hard to find an outfit for that. We ate lunch at our favorite place, Shane's Rib Shack. Very informal, but the best ribs anywhere. Although I think mine are a close second. Trouble is their prices have really gone up since Covid and the supply train issue. But we don't go to Raleigh very often, so it's a nice treat. Finished off the trip home with a stop at Dairy Queen for ice cream and my fave, the pecan turtle mini blizzard. So yummy. I'm looking forward to this wedding, but it sure will be a relief when it's over! Speaking of ribs, how do you like yours if you like ribs? Our son in law taught me how to make delicious ones in the oven.

I'm glad you found a dress. That's a long way to have to go shopping. We are fortunate that we have an Aldi's, Walmart and Giant Eagle within 10 minutes' drive. Other stores are about 20-25 minutes away. We bake our ribs (country style) in the oven with my own BBQ sauce.

That sounds like how I make my ribs, too. We have a city that's much bigger than ours 40 minutes away, but Raleigh is really huge with many more places to shop.

It's great you found the perfect dress to wear. I never make ribs I had ribs in the United States and the best I remember where served at Damon's in Orlando (FL), a lot better than Tony Roma's.

@1creekgirl My husband does not eat pork and the only available here are pork ribs. I try to only cook things that we both eat.

@LadyDuck You sound like me. Since my husband has to eat gluten free, I cook things that we both can eat.

You better sit down for this one ................................. I've never eaten ribs and I'm not a vegan or vegetarian. Boy, it sounds like all those outfits are going to cost a few arms and legs.

Some are more expensive than others, but I think I've found what I want without selling my first born, lol.

@1creekgirl It's troublesome because it needs to fill up forms and the like.
