Cheese Grits & Biscuit Dinner

Had a favorite dinner this evening. Cheese grits and homemade biscuits. The temperatures have turned cold after the rain. A good hot bowl of grits were like comfort food. And the biscuits were perfect as well. I use whatever cheese I have in my grits. Sometimes add cream cheese as it makes them very creamy. And a little butter as well. Enjoy your dinner and evening everyone. Photos are mine.

You always post the best comfort foods in the world. Although I have never tried grits, I have tried biscuits, although ours probably do not compare, and love those.

@CarolDM Oh that takes me back to my childhood. When my Dad was out planting in the fields, we did not necessarily sit down to the supper table together. There were always things that my mother would make for us, but I loved soft boiled eggs and toast cut in strips to dip into the egg. My sweet Gramma taught me to make that, and it always has been a favorite, partly because of who taught me to make it and partly because of the taste.

@Juliaacv I have never had that before and it sounds delicious. I too had many sweet Grandma memories. She made a lot of whole wheat biscuits, ate very healthy. Dustin always asked her to make the brown biscuits. Too funny. She would laugh and was so proud to cook for him. What a memory.

You are too sweet. We had this meal growing up all the time. My Momma would fry eggs and bacon as well to go with it, for a big meal. Love this one.

I like grits but for some reason never add cheese to them. Next time I make some I will. We had ravioli and a salad. Filling and good. Plenty of leftovers for later in the week. It rained this afternoon. Windy all day. Still under a wind advisory. Have a blessed evening.

@CarolDM Butter is how I always have them. I watch cooking shows and see them putting cheese in them. I think we would enjoy it for a change.

I make them often with just butter. But the cheese makes them really good.

Looks very delicious. We had a rainy evening last night. Had dinner late and I couldn't even remember what I had out of exhaustion.

not sure what grits are - some porridge type thing possibly and biscuits are something completley different in the uk (cookies) I had an American friend who didnt have much of a clue of what I was talking about most of the time

That sounds good. I ate grits one day at a restaurant. They were mounded and looked like potatoes, never had them like that..pretty good I guess.
