"Super Trouper" was released in 1980 and was a modest hit in the United States. The story line refers to a Super Trouper which is a follow spotlight used in stadium, concert and special event lighting.
The song hit #1 in the United States on the Billboard Dance Club Songs but only #45 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #64 on the US Cashbox Top 100 Singles. The song did much better in Europe and several other countries.
