Is Putin Delusional?

I was watching Dr. Phil today, and he says from his body language Putin appears to have a savior complex?? Now, if that is correct, who exactly does he feel he is saving? I mean they are attacking civilians. That makes no sense. Of course he did not expect the resistance he has encountered, but still...attack a peaceful democracy to save them? I don't think I buy that. I think it was a power grab nothing more and nothing less. What do you think?

I read that the average Russian man lives to 71. He is 70, so he knows this could be his last chance to make a big bang, and to get revenge on anyone/everything he wants to. It could be many other reasons. Russian nationalism. Aggravation from other countries.

I have always heard he wants to resestablish the old Soviet order.

@PinkFloydFan I am just saying what I think his motivation was. If he were easily able to take Ukraine, he might have gone further.

@snowy22315 That's impossible. Many of those nations are NATO, and there's no way to get back 13 countries. Ukraine is the only country he could touch because it wasn't a member of NATO, and because of decades long problems.

I am not sure what started the conflict, but as I understand it , it was an unprovoked attack. Just because he could. So, yes, he is.

I think if he thinks he is somehow "saving the population of Ukraine" He definitely is.

@snowy22315 I had this friend who posted on social media that she’s supporting Putin as he’s only defending his people.

This war makes no sense and now I cannot understand Zelensky who does not seem to have more common sense than Putin. He was offered Neutrality for his country and he refused. This year is the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the old Soviet Union, what do you think that Putin want?

I think his idea was to try to put it all back together again. The average Ukrainian would probably want neutrality for sure.

@snowy22315 Should I be a normal citizen of Ukraine I would ask to sign immediately for Neutrality and stop the war. But politicians want power. No matter which politician.

He is crazy. That's it. Or else even a kid would have sense to not start a war in this Era. He needs mental treatment. He is not doing any good to anyone, not even to his own country people.

I just do not find any reason why he has to attack a country that is no threat to their very large country. Ukraine cannot do any harm to Russia because if they do so they can easily be occupied like what is happening now. The only reason I can think of is the economic reason. That country is rich in resources that they can use and utilize. Militarily it is strategic since it basically covers the Russian border from the rest of Europe.

@snowy22315 Well historically the two have a common ancestry. I know some of their Monarchy started from Ukraine and spread to Moscow. But I think Ukraine has established that they can stand on their own which the Russian Federation cannot accept that they are not dependent on Russian Aid and has turned to look at the West for Aid.

I think that he thinks Ukraine "belongs" to him. That is the reason for this.

Putin is an egomaniacal sociopath with delusions of granduer. His goal is to re-establish the Soviet Union/Russian Empire with himself as Tzar Vladimir. I have also heard reports that he is dying of a terminal illness. One can only hope.

I feel leaders like him have baggage that is brought up from the past. That does not gel with a modern world where people do not have borders as far as travel and work are concerned. The young have to discard such supposed leaders bound by dated ideologies and seize the day for peace and a united world. Don't 99% want peace?

Putin never got over the breakup of the Soviet Union and losing Ukraine as a territory. He has taken back and occupied Geogia and Crimea so attacking Ukraine made sense to him. Unfortunately for him, he didn't count on such a fierce resistance.
