24 Hours of Fasting goes by so Slowly

I have a medical test tomorrow for which I must endure a 24-hour liquid-only diet. I won't bore you with the details of the test. The liquids-only portion of my day began at 7 am. Black coffee is one of the things I'm allowed to drink, and I had a cup for breakfast. I can also eat Jello. I'll have some a little later. The no-solid-food requirement is why I am home today. With my reactive hypoglycemia, I didn't think I should be chance driving or teaching. Dizzy spells and operating a heavy-duty pickup are not a good combination. Wooziness and dealing with 4th graders did not seem like a good idea either. So, here I sit in my recliner, in a silent house (I haven't turned on the TV), with two sleeping pups still worn out from their active weekend, watching the time go by oh-so-slowly. What I should be doing is working on my writing. I probably will, later. Right now, not leaving my comfy chair seems like the best plan. How is/was your Monday so far? PS: the photo is of an abandoned picnic area along the banks of Snow's Cut in Carolina Beach State Park.

I don´t mind 1 day diets EXCEPT when I have to do it for any special purpose. Then I get terribly hungry and I´m looking with craving at my fridge all the time

@DWDavis That´s the best way. Take a glass of water or any liquid you can drink and watch TV. That helps a lot.

@marguicha I'm downing a lot of water, a ginger ale, and have had a cup of Jello. Just enough sugar to keep me going.

Thanks. I'm hoping the test shows there's nothing there.

Oh what fun those 4th graders would have had at your expense, smart move on your part. I you'll get desirable results on that test.

It's one of those tests doctors say folks my age should get every ten years. I had the last one when I was 50. Hopefully, this one shows all is a-okay like the last one did.

When I have to have fasting labs (as in, no food for at least eight hours) I get them done early in the morning so I don’t get that hypoglycemic headache and shakes. And I’ll say a glucose tolerance test is one of the most intolerant things I’ve ever been subjected to. Best of luck as you endure this.

Good luck with your test tomorrow. Fasting certainly is hard when you have to do it. Hope you enjoy your comfy chair and get to your writing later on. My Monday is off to a slow start but I've managed to enjoy a hot cup of coffee and now it's time to get stuff done around the house.

Resting starts to get boring after a while, comfy chair or not.

@DWDavis why is it that you want to eat when you can't and want to be busy when you have to rest?? we're certainly strange humans when it comes to things like this

That could easily be a picnic area anywhere in our south-west. As soon as I'm in a similar situation to you, all I can think about is food, glorious food!!

I wouldn't go to teach fourth graders in such health condition. You did well to stay home and rest.

It is a long time since I have had to have a long fast. I'm told they are actually good for you, but I have never done one voluntarily. Most years I do have a 12 hour fast for a blood test.
