It’s time to start another countdown, this one featuring songs that have “help” in the title. Everybody knew this song would be on the countdown, and why not….the countdown is named after this song. Let’s get this show on the road! #10: Help! - The Beatles According to Picky Wedia, John Lennon said the one word that kept coming to his mind in the midst of all the Beatlemania was help. It’s understandable: while some acts’ careers go from zero to sixty in a couple of years, the Beatles went from zero to infinity in a month. So the plea to “help me get my feet back on the ground” was very, very real. And it produced a real classic. Help! Written by John Lennon (credited to Lennon/McCartney) Recorded by The Beatles From Help!, 1965 I do appreciate you being round:

It’s okay with me. I am a Beatles fan, but I think they were far more hype than quality. Still, it was very easy for me to put a top ten Beatles songs list together….although they were all Paul songs.

@xander6464 — they were like that. They never paid royalties to Rose Marie and Valarie Harper for the reference in “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer.”

Yup. I knew this one would be in your list. I’m fairly confident on another one too.

I like it better than “With a Little Help From My Friends.” Well, that’s not totally true: I prefer “With a Little Help From My Friends” as a stand-alone song.

There are many days when this song expresses exactly how I am feeling. #10, though?

Yeah, I know. But this didn’t even make my top ten Beatles songs list, so….

@FourWalls I can understand - there were so many great songs to choose from. Still, the line, "When I was younger so much younger than today," tends to ring through my mind a lot now that I'm 60 and counting.

Boy, one word sure says a lot and I'm sure at times The Beatles definitely needed some. Fun fact: This song and Paul's "Yesterday" were the only Fab Four songs with one-word titles! Of course when it came to music and creativity in the studio the Beatles needed little HELP.

That’s true, and the scant “help” they DID need came from Sir George Martin!

Now that was sort of the song for my friends and me at high school, Anytime something went wrong one of us began with Help me I'm feeling down etc etc etc,

Some can handle the stress and fame - others don't do so well with the sudden riches and glory.

Truthfully, given all they endured I’m genuinely surprised all four of them did survive that pressure of being “the Beatles.” It’s no doubt what drove them apart, too, sadly.

you do get to hate some of the really popular ones eventually but there are some hidden gems that dont get much airplay
