To me the "Coming Up" of flowers in spring symbolizes so many things one of them being a rebirth of sorts. After spending the winter underground, they pop up again when spring arrives. So, why not a musical trivia challenge featuring my favorite tunes with a flower for a title... Here is your first installment. See if you can figure out the songs and artists from the clues provided. Even if you can't figure out the answers it's always fun to see what songs I picked out. Enjoy Paul's funny music video! Coming up like a flower (Remember words in quotations do provide hints to the music trivia answers) Whodunnit- Name that tune or artist: 1. Although this Top Twenty tune form 1975 has a flowers name in the title it is actually a "name of a girl." Like their song "Sister Golden Hair," the tune was not about a specific girl, but a composite of them. The song was recorded by this "soft-rock trio" whose band name is "another way of saying the United States." Some of the band's other hits included "Horse With No Name, Lonely People, and Ventura Highway." Captain and Tennille covered one of their songs "Muscrat Love," and scored a hit with the track as it reached #4 on the Hot 100. -Do you know the name of this group and their flower-titled song? 2. This artist constructed this psychedelic song from his "favorite color and his favorite flower." The song was released in "1968 and reached #1" on the Billboard Chart, one of only two songs by the band which made the top spot. The other was their 1965 tune "Hanky Panky." This flower tune was later covered by "Joan Jett and The Blackhearts" in 1982, and reached the #7 spot on the Hot 100. The "flower" used in this song title is often associated with "good luck" if it has "4-leaves." -Do you know the name of this flower song and the group who recorded the tune? 3. Bobby Vinton had a #1 hit with a flower named song in 1962. This flower species is one of only three mentioned in "the bible." This flower is also a popular "girl's name." The White House has a famous "garden filled with this flower." -Do you know the name of this flower titled song? Ok, let's not "be a late bloomer" when figuring out these song and artist answers. If you're stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. Or as the band Jefferson Starship would say, you can "Count On Me." Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with a new edition soon. Hope you can wait till then, lol. Stay tuned... Source- Wikipedia & songfacts.com Photo-Pinterest

1. The group is America but can't think of the song. 2. The song is Crimson and Clover by Tommy James and the Shondells. 3. I would guess that it has either Rose or Roses in the title.

Okay, number one is America, but I don't know the name of the song. Number two is Tommy James and the Shondells, Crimson and Clover. Number three has got to be Rose something, I know because of the White House rose garden. Hm. I did so-so on this quiz, but I do like the idea of doing quizzes! Funny story about "Coming Up", though - when it first came out, I thought it was "Call Me Up" (there had been some songs with similar titles around that time, like Blondie's "Call Me"), so when (I thought) he sang, "call me up, like a flower", I was very confused, because typically flowers do not use telephones. Heh!

Love the responses, Ali! Thanks for the input Well, it wasn't a complete primrose path, but you did all right. Funny how we can confuse the lyrics sung in a song. I do it sometimes too. Don't be a stranger. I enjoyed your response Complete Trivia Answers: 1. America- "Daisy Jane" 2. Tommy James & The Shondells- "Crimson and Clover" 3. "Roses Are Red My Love"

@LindaOHio Tommy had some nice hits. I also liked Crystal Blue Persuasion another of his psychedelic sounding songs. "Crystal Blue" is a reference to the Book of Revelation as Tommy became a Christian at that time and wanted to write something semi-religious with a poetic feel to it.

I love the video of “Coming Up.” Especially Paul playing his younger Beatle self and Buddy Holly, and Linda doing both the background singers. 1. Flying me back to Memphis, honey keep the oven warm. Why, are we gonna cook the stewardess because she gave bad service? I love that song, much more than “Tin Man.” (And, who knows, Daisy Jane might have been the horse’s name after it got out of the desert and found somebody who’d NAME IT!!!!!! ) And, hey, Willis Alan Ramsey wrote “Muskrat Love,” don’t blame America for that. They just had the misfortune of recording it first. (I always knew to skip that song on side two of History: America’s Greatest Hits and that was before the Captain and Tennille’s version!) 2. I think Tommy was smoking some crimson and clover when they did that song . Nah, it’s a great tune. 3. Given that Bobby Vinton is “the Polish Prince,” I’m surprised he didn’t say “roses are green.” (Okay, no more Polish jokes…. Can’t make Polish jokes because Mike Krzyzewski taught us all how to spell one Polish word!! ) I’m not that big on that song, not even after Jim Reeves covered it. Whodathunkit?! I’m not a late bloomer, nor do I wear bloomers!!!! See ya next week!

Well, you nipped those trivia answers right in the bud Yes, Muskrat Love makes Tin Man sound pretty good! Tommy repeated the title so many times in the lyrics he might have been smoking some of those mind-altering seeds, lol.
