Good day to you all, So, there is an update on the new people that got hired at work. The one that was supposed to start today called in sick at 6am. Not good when you call in on your first day and really not good when you call in an hour after you were supposed to start. I’m guessing that one is not going to work out. LOL How do you call in on your first day? I mean if it was a call from the hospital maybe but just calling in, not good. I guess we will see what they are going to do about it. Was a nice day here got up to 62F and sunny all day. I will take that anytime. Hope you all had a good day.

After all that effort to get the job, I would do everything in my power to not screw up that opportunity - especially on the first day. It can't be helped if one is truly sick . . . but well, calling an hour after the start time sure doesn't look good.

Wow. Definitely doesn't look good for this person. I have to agree with you. I have a feeling this person may not work out.

I doubt that's going to work out. People love taking advantage of this system to skip work. It's sad, really. Guess they aren't worried about the paycheck.

I remember my first job when I moved to Latvia, It started at the time of the flu season and after working for one day guess what I got? The flu but I also had a doctor note it could not be helped, It was a good day because I got to cash out on a survey site and I hope you have a relaxing evening,

In my former job working in municipal government, I had a lifeguard that was late for work. I called her and asked her where she was, because she was late. She rather bluntly replied to me, "I'm not late until I actually show up." Needless to say she no longer had a job after that.

I would never do such a thing on my first day. I would try to report even if I was sick and maybe would just ask to leave early if I'm at my worse. Or I could have at least called in earlier before work start if I'm really unable to get out of bed.

That one will never be a good worker, I am not sure it's good to keep. If that person was sick, she has to call BEFORE working time.

@Bensen32 This is also my opinion, she does not seem interested, I would not get her as my employee.

@LadyDuck well they let he come in yesterday and then today I heard she called in and said she would be in at 10am when we are supposed to start at 5 am, so not sure what that was about.
