Road Construction

So, I mentioned a while ago that the construction of the roads have moved with me to the new place and wow what a mess they are making. The other construction that I had to drive though at least they would have signs up letting you know that lane changes were going to happen, so you were prepared. This morning I was going to work and there were lane changes and damn near ran off the road because I was not expecting them. I mean to be fair I was doing 70 in a 55 so maybe I should have been going a little fast, but still could you give us a heads up. For 3 weeks it has been on one way and yesterday afternoon they changed it so there was no warning. I’m sure this construction will be going on most of the summer. There is one section I go through that is about 6 miles and the other one is a little over 10 miles worth of construction. I drives me nuts when some idiot is doing under the 55mph speed limit when the road normal is 70mph. On the way home I get it because there are people working but when I go into work at 4 am no one is out there working so can we just drive. I don’t run into too many that early in the morning but it’s bad when I do because there is nowhere to pass. Hope you all have a good day.

I am enjoying my day at work doing surveys and sharing good news stories after my interview with officials of Social Security to continue receiving disability benefits which was successful.

That sounds like terrible driving conditions. They added two lanes in front of our apartment several years ago and I remember what a mess it was. Hope they get your road finished soon.

I think that would drive me to distraction, too. I completely understand where you're coming from, too.

@Bensen32 I know what you mean. Our roads are in the process of being repaved. Don't know when or if my end of the street will be done.

Road construction can certainly be a headache and more so if there's no warning.

@Bensen32 winter is hanging on so you might have better luck with the construction

I am a very laid back and mellow guy usually, but if there's one thing that gets me riled up, it's bad drivers. And there are lots of really bad drivers out there.

@Bensen32 When I was in college, I did a road trip to Tallahassee from Gainesville, normally a 2 hour drive on I-10. I was doing about a 100 mph the whole way, and since the drive was in a steady rush hour traffic, I passed every car on the right shoulder. How I didn’t crash or get pulled over is beyond me.

yes there are....a few days ago I passed a guy on the right shoulder because he was doing 40 in the 55 mph zone at 4 in the morning when no one is around.

Road construction can be a real pain in the you-know-what. Shortly before I left Milwaukee of course they were doing all that work on the zoo interchange and then there was all the construction on 94. It's nice now, and I even like what they did with 894/43 putting the access to 94 on one side. I used to get on at Lincoln Avenue all the time and if I needed to hit 94 west I had to jut across all the lanes of traffic quickly to get over there.

yeah, most of the time when they are done it is nice but it's the months and months and possibly years that you have to deal with the construction.
