TL:DR I didn't get the part-time job. Long story short. I'm looking for a part-time job so I can get extra income. Applied for a job which specifically said that they are accepting part-timers. They are looking for chat moderators who has a background on sports, e-sports, casino, poker, and cryptocurrency. Applied and had an interview last week. Interview went well. The owner and hiring manager both mentioned that I'm over-qualified for the job and would be happy to have me on board as a chat moderator. When the time comes, that they need a CS manager or supervisor, they will consider me as well. That's all fine and dandy. They mentioned that they'll get back to me with a start date and a schedule. Something that would fit with my current schedule at my present work. Feedback will be given last Monday. Monday went by. Nothing. Waited the whole day Tuesday. Nothing. Sent them an email to follow-up yesterday and they replied today that they have shelved my application and they decided to get someone who has no current job or commitment. What gives? Didn't bother asking them why and just wished them luck in their own endeavor. I'm moving on to another possible part-time job. I just find it weird that they advertised for part-timers and said that they accept those currently employed and decide to switch it up. I guess their priorities changed.

You are "over qualified" but they shelved your application, this is weird, I wonder why.

Same thing, I also wonder why it ended up like that.

@allen0187 We must keep in mind that most of the time they lie about the real reason.

Or they couldn't work around your present schedule. That's happened to me before. I wish you better luck on your next application.

I thought of that as well. Hope they say what the real reason is.

@DaddyEvil it would be nice. Yup, they probably won't. Their prerogative. Can't wrap my head about the reason for it though.

@allen0187 That would be nice but they probably won't tell you.

That is very bad. I think the reason may be that guy who got the job may know someone in that company or his paid is lower. Besides this, I can't think out better reasons why they didn't hire you. Let it be and I hope you will find a better part-time job soon. Good luck!

Moving on...eitherway you wouldnt want someone like that as employer. My end goal is to find a part time job as well as my health is making it difficult to have full time work.

Well, do not push it if it does not go to you. I think that was not meant for you. Management would usually switch their decision if they find persons that would fit their organization. I suspect that they found someone they like and they have to make it a full-time so that the person they want would stay.
