Wowza! It appears that the ceiling repair will be quick, easy, and (relatively) cheap!!! Hooray!!! Speaking of “hooray,” here’s another song that’s celebrating 60 years this year. And it’s one a lot of people who weren’t born then know, thanks to numerous remakes.
The Loco-Motion - Little Eva
Not the first version I heard. That distinction went to Grand Funk Railroad in 1974. Kylie Minogue provided another version for the children of the 80s.
Picky Wedia says that Dee Dee Sharp (of “Mashed Potato Time” fame) was first offered this King/Goffin song, but rejected it. Little Eva (nee Eva Boyd), then 19, said, “Thank you very much” and recorded the song. It became the first and biggest of her four charted pop hits.
As I said, it was a hit again in the 70s and in the 80s. That makes it a pretty darn popular song for a “dance craze” era tune.
The songwriters were the legendary team of then-hubby-and-wife Gerry Goffin and Carole King. The song is an all-time classic.

This one is on my dance list. I loved this version and also Kylie Minogue's version.

I’ve heard the 80s version, quite by accident, and it makes me put in my earbuds and go find either this version or the Grand Funk cover.

If it’s funny it’s going to be associated with me, that’s for certain.

Yeah, I started listening to rock and roll about the time this was sliding down the charts, so their version was the first one for me.

I remember when this song was popular and certainly did enjoy the dance craze. Brings me back to some really good times.

This is one of those songs that would’ve been great to roller skate to. Unfortunately, I skated between versions of the song (too late for Grand Funk, to early for the 80s version).

That was the first version I heard, so I’m partial to it, too.

I like it when you get a fun song like this and multiple generations get to hear it because of the different versions.

Great memories of this song and dancing under the disco lights in NYC even though it really was not a disco song it was played a lot,

Probably for a week or two. There were all kinds of dance crazes back then and they seemed to last about as long as the song about them did.
At least the song lasted!!
