Blooms from my Tulips Poplar tree in the backyard. I have two of these trees. And each year they seem to grow taller.
This tree is the state tree for three states. Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana. Very popular trees for sure. The birds enjoy these tulip shaped blooms as well. A cool fact is the trees are usually about 15 years old before the blooms appear.
And these two trees have brought a lot of shade to the yard. I have bird baths under each of these.
Enjoying the little things in my yard and garden. Have a good Friday.
Photo is mine.

That's a beautiful tree and one I've never heard of before. I've heard of a poplar tree but I think those are different. I wonder how they're do in our winter climate.

@CarolDM maybe I can research where in Indiana they are grown. If mostly in the southern part of the state then they might not do good here but if they're grown in the northern part that might be close enough to our weather.
It looks like it might do fine here if the winter temps don't drop below -30 to often.

Beautiful! This is the first time I've ever seen this type of flowers. We have an orchid flower from trees. Photos of The Hong Kong Orchid Tree, Bauhinia blakeana by Petter Johansen.

Thanks, these trees can be found around town, that I've seen. In a parking lot, about a block away from home, there were some growing, but since been cleared before pandemic started. None in my yard.

@oahuwriter Wonder why they were cleared. That is too bad.

Beautiful photo. I think we had tulip trees at our last home too. They're so pretty.
