Rain Storm Broke Rose Branches

A rain shower over night. Some thunder and lightning was involved. Glad to get the rain. However this morning I noticed many of my roses were on the ground. The photo shows a large broken branch of roses on the deck. I salvaged the roses and have them in vases inside to enjoy. Nothing else I can do. It cannot be rooted, the branches are snapped into. The bush is large enough to withstand the damage. Propped the rose bush up with two small trellises. I ordered a larger one and it should arrive soon. Heartbroken to see so many roses on the ground. I have been so proud of how nice the roses looked this year. If only I had put up a larger trellis before now, they might would all be safe. Can't look back now. Oh well, that is life. I hope the ones remaining will stay healthy and I will see more roses soon. Life is full of all kinds of ups and downs. Photo is mine.

Rains and strong winds sometimes damage plants in this way. We cannot do much except to salvage in the best way. Hopefully some other good flowers would keep growing in your garden.

@CarolDM Yes and it leaves a bad feeling to have favourite plants or flowers having such a fate !

There are still many roses on the bush. This is just one branch. But so hard to see.

And our tulips are blooming. Last year the wind made short work of the blooms. Under ideal conditions we can enjoy the flowers for almost a month.

Tulips are all gone here. They are early bloomers. Good to see you.

This was a terrible thing to happen, sorry about your rose bush:( My grandma had a rose trellis up, in their front yard.

Wow, the rain did that? That's quite a branch to have fallen, but I'm glad you made good use of those beautiful roses. Maybe this natural pruning will make the rose bush even fuller.

@CarolDM It must be quite a big rose bush! The new trellis will save the day. Meanwhile it seems your rose bush is thriving .

And the wind. The roses were heavy on the bush and should have already had trellis up. I put it off. There are still many blooming.

That's sad but I'm glad the bush itself will survive. The disaster here is Roscoe, he drags his prize sticks around and those have bent several of my hollyhock stalks, well, not much I can do about that doggoneit.

I am going to look into getting climbing roses or pyracantha coccinea to put out by the southeast corner of my lot, that'll keep Roscoe from going around there and also keep thieves out.

Yes it is surviving, and maybe better with a load lifted. I should have already had the trellis put up. Oh well, just enjoy the Roscoe moments.

I was very sad. But I now have roses all over my house, in all kinds of vases. I had to take down vases from my curio cabinet that were my Momma's and my sister's and use them. I should do this more often. Trying to make it not so sad. And there are many roses still growing on the bush.

There are so many roses on that bush. And it's heartbreaking to see them on the floor. . But then can't go back in time. Maybe you put the trellis to avoid such damages in the future. I bet they look gorgeous in the vase indoors. Hopefully they stay fresh for longer

It is very hard to know what the weather might do. I guess this is like a pruning, whether they needed it or not.

You are right abbot that. A baby bird was knocked out of a tree too. But there are more in other nests. Part of nature I am told.

Oh, that’s too bad. At least you get to enjoy them indoors, and it won’t hurt the rose bush in the long run. My neighbor’s rose bush was in full bloom when I got home! ‘Tis the season!

Rain is surprisingly strong! Yesterday I found a fairly heavy part of a palm tree (the part that holds the seed pods) dried and on top of some of my plants. It just rained hard, no wind. (And yes, we have palm trees in the city of Tokyo.)

It is sad to see the damage that bad weather can do. The last time we had a bad storm, a tile was nearly blown off of our roof. I was worried about it falling on somebody.
