Yes, I did

I mowed some more this evening. While I did that, hubby made hamburgers for us from the ground beef I bought today. We were early to the hand doctor and got in right away. He likes to be on schedule. I am being encouraged to consider surgery. Both for the carpal tunnel and for the ulnar compression. I still want to wait. On our way home we shopped a little at Aldi. I am showered and relaxed and ready to go to bed. Also made hubby pumpkin spice flavored nutritional drink to have. I am glad we are getting to the end of the year.

Good luck on your decision with the surgery. It helped me but we are all different.

I think changing my work load will help a lot. I just hesitate about any kind of surgery.

My sister had carpal tunnel surgery and she was 100% better afterwards.

Well that is good. I think I can make some changes that will bring me relief. I also think that there is more trouble with a compressed nerve in my shoulder blade that causes my pain and so these other surgeries would not be what I really need.

@GardenGerty There are many surgeries that alleviate pain.

Are there other alternatives to try to heal your hand? I'd want to wait too - surgery as last resort. A productive day for you - get some good rest, both of you!

I could do steroid shots, according to this doctor. I do not really want those either. I am convinced that some exercise and change in my work will do wonders.

@GardenGerty I guess the steroid helps to heal faster, or something like that, but it could come back again. I think some kind of physical therapy (that you could do on your own) and changing what you do really would really help it!

I can feel that you are into surgery things, which I wouldn't say I like to deal with, too.

No, I do not want the surgery. We will see how summer treats my hands.

@GardenGerty I got traumatized when I had my first surgery at the age of 6.

If there are less invasive alternatives for the carpal tunnel and for the ulnar compression I would try those first.

My mother had to have surgery for carpal tunnel. She couldn't handle the pain. Right now I have a sore thumb. I have been wearing a thumb brace which has helped some.

I was in a lot of pain but I have made some changes that have helped a lot. I do also have a wrist brace that is useful.

I can't blame you I hope things work out and you can afford to wait to have your hand repaired.

I made a beef stew in the crockpot today. Chatted with my sister (by phone) and worked on the prep work for the grandkids sewing tomorrow.

Those nutritional drinks are a godsend to those who need them.

I have found myself wondering lately if there is too much protein, and that it could be hard on his kidneys.

@GardenGerty I hadn't thought of that. I guess too much of anything isn't a good idea.
