Baby Robin Was Morning Alarm

Was awaken at 6:am this morning. Not the cats. A baby bird. The Dude found him first, then Brendel. At the top of the front door. Chirping so loud. Sounded like he was inside the house. Finally his Momma came with breakfast. She lured him down into the front yard. All is well now. So much excitement in the front and back yard now. I can see the little birds following their parents around, looking for food. And still learning to fly. Amazing how they fledge from the nest and it takes about 10-12 days to learn to fly. I am afraid for them at this stage as they are very vulnerable during this time. Fingers crossed for the best. Photo is mine.

I know, it was so funny. I have a short video of them looking up and probably wondering how could they get to that bird.

@CarolDM Yes, and that little birdie was smart, he knew right which door to go to for safety.

@CarolDM - They get so excited, I often see my cat Gevi getting excited when a bird comes to the feeder.

@CarolDM I believe he was calling for his mother and that woke you up. Were you able to go back to bed afterwards. I am sure their parents are watching out for them.

Birds are so cool. I was watching the birds cool off their feet in the reflecting pool near the bombing museum today. They were just so amazing, hopping in and out, trying to get relief from the heat.

That's an interesting photo. I haven't heard any babies around here, it's as if no birds built nests here this year.

He was at the very top of my front door. I know he was scared. Seems fine now. Some years are more birds than ever here.

This post reminded me that I had a Robin that stayed in my yard yesterday and posed for me. So I got several sides of him. I didn't look for nests anywhere and didn't see any other birds nearby. I couldn't get my collage to load here so this is one side.

Sometimes, you wouldn't think such small bodies could create such loud sounds. I'm glad he is safe for the moment.

Gaia likes to keep an eye on the birds, but can't say any have come that close!

The babies get confused when they are new out of the nest and just learning to fly.
