To continue my junior high days: (I spent grades 8 and 9 in junior high.)
They put me in a high-school-level Algebra class. Fortunately I didn't do too badly. But not all my junior high days were stressful. Once I got used to changing classrooms and teachers and all that other "stuff", I got a "job" (unpaid of course) in the school office. I was in charge of the switchboard; and I managed to cut off the principal on my first day. It was an old-fashioned plug-in switchboard that you had to manually ring the phones with a lever. Very interesting. The picture above shows the type of switchboard that I had to use.
I also got a job on the school newspaper where I got my first opportunity to write and get "published". I also had a chance to spend time with my "crush" who also wrote for the newspaper. More on that later.
I had my first experience with gym. There wasn't a gym at the parochial school until after I left; so I had to get moving and grooving at this new school! I learned that I wasn't very athletic. The only sport that I was decent at was volleyball; and I don't remember if that was junior high or high school.
As for my crush, he asked me out to a school baseball game...my first date ever. I contacted him through the high school alumnae site recently and found out I was his first date too. He was so shy that he didn't date again until college. We went out another time with another couple and then spent the summer before senior high playing baseball with a bunch of other junior high friends.
I adjusted to public school, got pretty good grades, made a lot of friends and then prepared myself for going to senior high...little did I know what that would be like.
John F. Kennedy was big news among people my age. He was loved by the young people; and many wanted him to be elected.

@LindaOHio I am sure you did! I guess that's were the phrase 'getting your lines crossed' came from.

Seems like you enjoyed your high school experience. Thinking back on fond memories always makes me smile. My college ones were much better and more interesting than those in high school.

It was quite interesting to use the old-style switchboard.
