Continuing on with my school day memories suggested by @JudyEv...
After spending a summer playing baseball with my crush and other junior high friends, it was time to start high school.
Boy, was I in for a shock. The high school I attended had 3,000 students, 1,000 of which were in my graduating class. The school was enormous and had 3 floors. It had up and down staircases (You couldn't go up the Down or down the Up) and a swimming pool. It was a virtual nightmare to reach your next class in the time allotted...and heaven forbid if you had to use the restroom between classes. The first couple days of school were a traffic jam. The mass of students got stuck in an unmoving crowd where the gym ramp and main hall come together. We all listened to the bell ring as the next classes were due to start; and we were still stuck in a mass of stagnant students on the first floor.
In one of my classes my "crush" took a seat kitty-corner from me; but never said hello or acknowledged me in any way. We spent the next three years ignoring each other. More on that later.
This school was my Waterloo. It was in the Top 10 schools in the nation and was very, very hard. Also, because of my grades in junior high, they stuck me in several Honors courses. I was overwhelmed.
More to follow...

I would be curious to know how things developed between you and your crush in the coming years. Three years of being ignored would be hurtful.
We had a huge campus. But we had a fixed classroom. Our subject teachers would come to same room in the allocated time. We would go out for free break, lunch time, sports period, music, theatre, practical labs etc. Most of the theory subjects were taken in the same room.

I will talk more about my crush in future posts. It would have been nice to be in one room.

The photo is from Pixabay; but it looks exactly like my junior high and senior high schools.

@LindaOHio Our schools are never so big. I have no idea how many we were, but not even a thousand for sure.

@LadyDuck This school is the largest I've ever been in except maybe for college.

That was a gigantic school! I went to a high school like that the first two months in Jersey City, NJ before my family was transferred to California. I remember the one way stair cases. Thankfully my next two high schools were a little smaller.

Yes, this one was too big and too hard.

It sucks when you have a crush on someone but they don't even acknowledge your presence in the room and it's as if you don't exist.

Especially since we had spent so much time together -- 2 dates, together on the school newspaper, asked me to dance at a school dance, spent the summer playing baseball, was my partner at junior high graduation...I will explain more in the following Discussion. Should be in the next few days.

Junior high was nice. Senior high was just too much.
