Never thought I'd be so glad to get so many shots

I get the Botox injections for chronic migraines every twelve weeks.
The next set was due a month ago, but since I was on antibiotics for a kidney infection, the nurse practitioner wouldn't give me the injections for another month.
I got all 30 injections today and although they do hurt, they are certainly better than headaches every day.
At least I found out what would happen if I stopped getting Botox. My headaches were like they were two years ago before I tried any treatments. No better, but no worse.
I'm home just chilling. Had an ice pack on my head, neck, and shoulders for a while. I should be fine tomorrow.
How's your day been?

30 injections...that makes me cringe. I am an insulin dependent diabetic and have been injecting myself thrice everyday for years. But still I have fear of injections.
I am glad that these injections help you.
It's past 11 PM and I am enjoying some late night TV watching. It's Friday and weekend mood has set in
. Today was a good day.

@1creekgirl Yes. I have managed low insulin dosage with diet, exercise and lifestyle changes.I have an autoimmune condition and there is no insulin in my body. So, I am dependent on outside supply.

The shots are several places on the head, face, neck and shoulders. Being in less pain for three months is worth about 20 minutes of not so bad pain.

@RebeccasFarm God still does heal us. Sometimes it's instantly and sometimes it's through doctors and meds.

@RubyHawk Thank you. They won't cure the migraines, but at least I should have relief for three months.

I am one to say that headaches are horrible. I just hate them, and luckily do not get them often. But when I do? Yeepers. Not fun. Although even if I get one I am sure it is not like a migraine would be. I don't like shots either, but like you said, I'd rather have those than headaches.

I'm thankful I don't have the classic migraines that are so horribly painful. I've had two of those and they were "memorable." I have chronic migraines which aren't usually as extremely painful, but I have them several times a day most every day. That's without any meds, but I'm so thankful the Botox usually works pretty well.

Huh, so do they inject it where you want or do they choose for you?

Botox was originally just cosmetic and still is used for that. But a while back doctors noticed that some patients were reporting less pain from migraines after cosmetic Botox. Now it's a fairly standard treatment for migraines. I'm so thankful my insurance covers it as it's very expensive.
I had to try several meds which didn't work before Botox would be approved by insurance.

I didn't know Botox injections could help headaches. I get headaches and the one thing that really helps is Excedrin Migraine pills.

Even though I get the shots every three months, I do need Excedrin Migraine pills sometimes. You should check with your Neurologist about the Botox.

@1creekgirl 30 injections in one day? I’m trying to get my head round that - I hope your head gets a lot of benefit from all that poking about with needles.

The first time I really dreaded it, but it's actually not as bad as it sounds. The needle is tiny and doesn't go in deep, but the medicine burns. Still, it's worth not as many headaches for three months.

The injections use a tiny needle and they're shallow, but the medicine burns which is what hurts the most.
