“So Pilled Up That I Rattle”

There, I said it. I’m all doped up.
Well, it’s all legal.
Tonight’s medication ingestion consisted of a couple of Tylenol, given that I’m still quite sore from falling off the bicycle yesterday. Nothing broken, thankfully (at least I don’t think so….if there is I’m in trouble, because I walked two miles today), just what you’d expect from an old lady losing an argument with gravity.
I also had to talk some Sudafed for my sinuses. The running joke in the Ohio Valley is that allergies are so bad here the meth makers try to turn the stuff back into Sudafed.
Every time I have to take a bunch of medicine I think of that song the Clash covered on London Calling, “Revolution Rock.” There’s a line in the first verse that says, “I’m so pilled up that I rattle.”
Thankfully, I don’t have to take a lot of pills on a regular basis. I’m doing well in that regard!
Here’s the Clash song I referenced:

My knee doctor prescribed me Paracetamol (Tylenol, twice a day). I told him thast that was for babies but he said that not in the dose that he would give it to me. I have to take 2 gr. a day. That and the physical therapy should help me if I had what he thought I had. I know (I don´t think) that I have arthrosis. And I know that there´s no cure for it. But the symptoms can be helped with these pills so let´s have them

I have a lactose problem so all I can have is one small serving of yogurt. And some days, not even that.

@FourWalls I'm sorry to hear that you are not lactose tolerant.

Hope you feel better soon. I have not figured out how we can have more padding now and bounce less than when we were younger

Yeah, you’d think with two hundred and too much pounds of flab it’d take a week for the pain the seep through to the pain receptors. Um….NO.
(And thankfully I only weigh ONE hundred and too much now!)

Thank you. I think life is relegated to the stationary bike in the gym.

@FourWalls My Dad used to take a lot of pills and Vince would sometimes shake his head but he takes just as many now.

Oh my gosh, you fell off a bike
! We've just started riding bikes again as a family - my son is a bit of a newbie and his bike is a bit too big - it gives me heart attack each time there is an "incident". Glad you didn't break anything - don't need that! Right - the least amount of pills the better!1 person likes this

@FourWalls Ohhhh, you went on those electric/hybrid bikes . . . I haven't tried that yet
. Sudden stops
. I think I will stick to those old fashioned regular bicycles
.
I'm glad you are ok
. I actually fell a couple weeks ago while shopping . . . out of nowhere I fell off a curb - not even tripping, just stepped down off the curb and tumbled

Yep. It’s been quite a long time since I’ve been on one, and the “sudden stopping” of those electric/hybrid bikes can really jolt you (not electrically, mind you
). Plus, it’s not a pleasant feeling to be going 11 MPH when that motor kicks in.
I’m fine, thanks.
Walked two miles at the gym today, and NO FALLING!!!!!!!!

@rebelann —
My grandmother had a sign hanging in her kitchen that said (written in a German accent), “We grow too soon oldt und too late schmart .”
And I learn something new every day: I didn’t know that was actually a song!

i got a bike for Christmas this year. It has been 30 years since I have been on one, so I have been a bit reluctant to take it for a spin for this very reason. I am terrified i'll fall and break something. So there it sits, on my porch waiting for me.

Don't know this song but you reminded me of The Rolling Stones and Mother's Little Helper and that great line and if you take one more of those you'll get an overdose and since I usually do not need to take any medication if I do need an aspirin for a headache that song always comes to mind

Of course, “Mother’s Little Helper” has the perfect line, too: “what a drag it is getting old.”

Yikes. Sorry to hear about the bicycle accident. I hope you feel better. I take about a dozen pills a day; so I must rattle too. Hubs takes even more!!! Have a good week.

Minimal harm, no foul, lesson learned. I take three daily, and one inhaler. I’m blessed. I have family members who have a medicine collection that looks like JJ’s album collection.

@FourWalls And when you were 20 you didn't even think about things like getting old and taking prescription medication. Except maybe for your inhaler.

I have never heard that song but I hope the pills you have taken help you to feel better. Allergies here in GA are bad all year long. When I lived in CT I only had to deal with them in Spring and Fall.

One nasty bruise on my shin, but nothing else. I’m glad my doctor told me not to take a baby aspirin every day anymore, or I would be about 32 different shades of purple.
