Good evening from this side of the planet . It's 8:12 PM here and I am here after my dinner. Husband is in some business call and my daughters are in their rooms studying. Few dirty pots and pans wait in the kitchen sink and so does the cleaning of kitchen shelf. But I will mylot for a while and then finish them. We are getting back to school from Wednesday. The school reopens after summer vacation. Teachers start working on 9 June and the students would come from Monday next week. Well, we work extra few days after the school closes winding up the previous academic year and we start working before students come to class to prepare for new academic year. And being a art therapist there too, I spent a long time in the last few days searching online for various art and craft ideas to use for various age groups. And once I do that, I get totally lost.. It's like a wide ocean there online and sites like Pinterest take you from one interesting idea to other. I spotted these beautiful keychains in the picture on Amazon and I think this would make an interesting craft project for middle school or maybe High school too get take a bit bigger project with the same skill. I love Macrame art and I know a few of my friends from Waldorf parent circle do it beautifully. And they do crochet too very beautifully. I tried learning crochet in the lockdown from my expert daughter and it was not as easy as I thought . But I finished two small projects with middle school last year. So, this year I plan to learn this new skill and pass it on to the children at school. I hope this one is easier I called one friend and she is ready to teach me. So, I am going to put this project for next semester as I need to learn it first. I have kept few newspaper crafts for this semester and I am an expert at that I will move on to reading your posts here. I have answered all notifications from yesterday and the new ones can wait for a while Anyone here who has tried Macrame or is already an expert? You can share your valuable experience here

I saw some videos. It's basically an art of tying different kinds of knots with these special macrame threads and these knots can be done in various combinations and patterns to get the designs.

I do not make macrame but I hope you try it and can make some money doing it. Those are certainly cute.

These are cute ones. I thought that if we could teach them in the next semester starting September, we can make some of these keychains and simpler projects and sell it at our fund raising Christmas sale. . Let's hope that my plan gets executed well.

@arunima25 - I often have a look at Pinterest and I finally think that the site is a total waste of time. I like to search YouTube to see how things are done, a video speaks a thousand words.

I have seen a lot of beautiful projects on Pinterest. The wall hangings and pot holders are so elegant and beautiful. I have watched a few online tutorial videos and they don't look tough. I guess with some practice I should get a hang of it.

@LadyDuck You are right. One can get lost on Pinterest. It can at times take us to irrelevant stuffs too. But I have bumped into many ideas there when I was not actually looking for them. The site can be addictive too. I am happy that YouTube videos are there and we can learn so many things.

Those are very pretty but I've never tried macrame. Luckily I can crochet but that's about the sum total of my handicraft skills.

@arunima25 I have done so many that I find them very easy but I remain mindful that they are not so easy if you haven't done much crochet.

I have seen your crochet projects.I like the beanies that you make . My younger daughter wants to make few beanies to sell at our Christmas charity fund raising event. I checked the online tutorial videos and it does not look tough. But then I have to do it to find out

@JudyEv When I see my younger daughter doing it, it looks so easy. But once the needle comes to my hand, it's other way around . You are right that we need a lot of practice. And it might not come well to everyone. I watched few online tutorial videos for beginners and I should try them soon. They look easy but I can't say that unless I actually try.

Yes, someone mentioned that it was very popular during seventies..I find it a timeless one. Maybe now people are more into gadgets and they don't have enough time to have hobbies.

@CarolDM Yes, I tried some yesterday using wool. Ut would be better with macrame threads. But I want to practice a bit before I order for them.

I checked a few online tutorial videos and they don't look tough. But then I have to try it and see. Definitely one needs to get a hang of it to pick up the speed and then come with some innovative designs of their own. I plan to teach them in next semester starting September.. Hopefully we make some good keychains to sell at our Christmas find raising event. I love Pinterest. It's an ocean of ideas.

@arunima25 Once you get going I"m sure you'll get the hang of macrame quickly. What a good idea to sell the keychains at your Christmas fund raiser. I get lots of ideas from Pinterest too. Aside from some crocheting projects I've been browsing ideas for bedrooms and color choices. I"d really like to paint my bedroom but not sure what color I want.

@Marilynda1225 The place is full of ideas and I keep stealing it from there. Last year I got few ideas from there to get my master bedroom closet done. Now we are planning for some renovations around the house in August after my elder one moves to her college life and we don't have to worry about her exams. I am on Pinterest hunting for ideas, saving them and mixing few ideas to suit my needs My younger daughter gets a lot of crochet project ideas there

It does look easy when watching the online videos. I tried it with wool. It was not that easy. I have to practice to get hang of it. It came out okay. I guess it will look much better with macrame threads.

I liked them too. I have tried them using wool. I watched one good video online. It's interesting but needs practice to get hang of it. And I think it will be neater with macrame threads.

I too found them good. I think they will sell well at our Christmas fund raising event. If we start them in our second semester starting September, we can make enough by Christmas time. How did you find it? I saw few online tutorial videos and they look not so tough. But I have to try and see. We will need some practice to get hang of it.

Yes, I checked the videos and tried it with some old wool. It came out well. Will definitely look better with macrame threads. I will order some once I get a bit more practice with old wool. Though it's not as easy as it looks in those videos.
