Myloter friends, keep your fingers crossed for me this week. Last week, I received a phone call from Maggie at Hattie Larlham when she asked about my availability for my first assessment tests to be scheduled. I told her I was pretty flexible since I have no plans this summer and can work it around volunteering at the zoo and the shelter. Though she said she had the perfect place for me to learn retail first, I had no idea where it would be since I mentioned I wanted it to be local and on the bus route. She said she would make it in my hometown and call me toward the end of the week. Two days later, I’ve heard back from her with the lowdown. This week, I’ll start my retail trial shift at my local Big Lots store from 9 Am-1 PM with my job coach Allie. She asked how I was going to get there and told them about my bus company and then mentioned the uniform dress code. I should hear back from her on my food service assessment test tomorrow or on Tuesday to be held next week or the following week. As soon as I hear anything on the latest, I’ll let you all know.
Though I haven’t heard from Allie at all this weekend, I’ll be leaving an after-hours phone call to Maggie tonight to let her know since I don’t want to go in blind for my first paid trial period. Maybe she can have her text/call me on my cel when she received my message and arrange a back-up job coach. As long as I don’t do any heavy lifting/carrying objects over 10 pounds from offloading the truck, I’ll be okay and learn cashiering, recovery, inventory, sales, light maintenance, and other retail tasks, one station per day. I hope everyone is nice as I’ll do my best to learn the ropes in retail. And like I did with my gym reports, I’ll give you a report every night on how it went and what I learned every day on the job. At least, I’ll earn $130 this week to add to my bank.
Tomorrow night, I’ll post my June recipe list right after dinner. So I’ll see you then.

That's for sure after missed phone calls and delays this spring. At least Allie called me on that Sunday night.
