My normal routine is to get up early, open the door for fresh air. Let in any cat that is out, let out any cat that is in.
Although Tinker was definitely in Monday night, he never came to ask out. I never saw him all day. Not even last night when I got home.
Later I found Bitty outdoors and I assumed the outside door had not latched and had blown open.
Tinker came in this morning for treats, and eats. ALL the cats were in, and I went back to bed. A phone call woke me.
After the phone call, I opened the front door to let fresh air in and look at the day. Lo and behold, Lady and Bitty were hanging out at the front porch. Neither Angel nor Tinker were anywhere to be found .I WAS puzzled, but no more.
I have a small window in the dining room open. It has a screen. . . BUT some ingenious cat has pushed the screen out at the bottom. It did not show,. That is where the kitties are going out.
I am pleased to say that when I opened the door and walked away, Bitty came right in. She was given treats and she got in my lap to be flea combed.
That window of opportunity is now closed tightly.

I put wire over my windows so I could have them open without that worry

@wolfgirl569 As we have aged we have gotten used to a/c in the bedroom. I agree, if you are too used to it it is hard to deal with the heat.

@GardenGerty We have central air but have not used it in about 5 years. We both are in and out too much. It makes it harder to deal with the heat when you do have to be out. I have thought about getting a small one for the bedroom. But having switched to the smaller room helps aa I have 4windows in it. The big room only has one.

Tinker, being the big boy of the bunch is the likely culprit. It did not take the others long to figure it out though.

Wow! I'm glad you found where the cats were getting out; and I'm glad they didn't wander far.

The adult cats probably go all over the place, or at least to the vacant house next door. It is too dangerous for Bitty to be out.

They think they want to go explore the big world, until they see how ugly it is, then they’re more than happy to come back to a cool house with lots of food and water.
Glad you got the escape route taken care of.

Hope your cats are fine. My Tom cat snowy too is fine. He curls into a box in the corner and sleeps there.
