It's National Flip Flop Day

United States
June 17, 2022 9:13am CST
National Flip Flop Day is celebrated on the third Friday in June so if you're inclined break out those flip flops today and have some fun. The weather here certainly has been hot enough to wear flip flops so you might have already been wearing yours. I can't wear flip flops anymore because I need something more sturdy on my feet these days. But, I used to love wearing them and half the fun of summer was getting a new pair of flip flops. Do you like flip flops?

I can't get used to the thong part that goes between the toes. So uncomfortable

I do, and I wear them a lot in the summer. I have some cute ones I like now, they have fake pearls on the straps. They are pretty glam for flip flops.

Flip Flops can go from plain rubber ones to all glamed up like yours. Do you remember Dr. Scholls sandals that had the wooden bottoms and would make a racket when you walked in them? They were popular back in the 70s so you might be too young to remember them

I love my flip flops but I cannot wear the thin soled cheap ones I have to wear the thicker one with a leather dole as they are a little firmer.

@Marilynda1225 I have to have the kind with the toe separator, I slide out of the other kind and cannot walk in them.

Flip Flops are so popular when summer rolls around. I couldn't even think about wearing those thing soled ones but I have seen the thicker ones you're talking about and they do look more sturdy. I just can't get used to the thong thingee that does between the toes.

I don't wear flip flops. I prefer nice leather sandals that fasten around my feet. I'm already unstable on my feet, so don't want anything that might slip while walking This is the type of sandals I prefer. I have a pair of black sandals and a pair of brown sandals. Leather sandal. Photo belongs to Walmart.

@Marilynda1225 I get dizzy just by turning my head. If there's nothing to hang onto, down I go.

@DaddyEvil that sounds scary and dangerous. Is it all related to your blood pressure?

Those do look comfortable and sturdy. I have to be careful walking so I need sandals with support. No more flip flops for me unless I want to go flip-flopping

Do you have the basic ones that are just rubber or more fancy ones with a little thicker sole and some gems on them?

I like flip-flops and keep a pair in the camper. My favorite pair, Rainbow Flip-Flops I'd have for years, were chewed to bits by Sophie last year when she was a wee bit of a puppy.

Flip flops were fine for me when I was young and could run around. Not anymore! I need something more sturdy on my feet these days. Flip flops have no support whatsoever

I never liked and I never wore flip flops, those kind of shoes can cause several feet issues. I wear sandals in summer, I always did.

@Marilynda1225 I wore a few times but they hurt between my toes. Then my brother joked saying that I walk like a duck wearing those things... as it was not enough that all my family called me "ducky".

Flip flops aren't for everyone and I do believe they can cause feet issues since they have absolutely no support. I never wore them as too often but maybe around the pool or at the beach
