Two days ago in Olmsted County Minnesota, Olmsted County Sheriff's Office (OSCO) Deputy Nate Jacobson was at work during the day when he saw a baby skunk that was walking on the road toward him. I do not know about any of us, but normally our reaction would be to avoid getting near a skunk since they are known for using for using their tails to repel anyone getting close to them as a form of defense against being harmed. Officer Jacobson decided to assist the baby skunk to get something to drink since the baby skunk was dehydrated from being in the sun all day long. Officer Jacobson took the time from his busy schedule to take the baby skunk from the place where he found the animal to Paws And Claws Humanity Society (PCHS) in Rochester to be taken care of by the veterinarians the same day. The good news is that officials with PCHS will be teaming up the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center Of Minnesota to take care of the baby skunk.

@RubyHawk Baby skunks don't spray, until they become full-grown.

@Deepizzaguy I think you meant he didn’t. The officer should be thankful. Have you ever smelled skunk spray? There’s nothing worst an soap and water won’t wash it off. Tomato juice will.

So glad momma skunk wasn't mad or anything. That could have gotten ugly. Good to hear all are well.

@LadyDuck According to the deputy, he said that the baby skunk just wanted to have something to drink and eat after the skunk was in the sun.

If that is the skunk in the photo is is a cute one, I think a baby skunk is less likely to be aggressive and this one probably is grateful it was helped

It's fear that causes a skunk to spray. The babies still aren't afraid of people.

That was sweet of officer Jacobson to tend to the baby skunk. Wonder where its momma was or other litter mates.

When skunks are babies, they aren't afraid of people yet. He gave this baby some water, what a wonderful heart this man has!

The officer showed a heart of kindness to the baby skunk that few persons would show to a skunk due to fear of getting the stink perfume from an adult skunk.
