A blast from the past

I've been trying to organise my photos a bit better as I am running out of space on my computer. I'm now going through my Gnomesville file and thought I'd write about them as it's been a while since the last post that mentions them. My older friends here, as in long-term friends, will remember some of my posts about Gnomesville, near Louden in Western Australia. But some of my newer acquaintances may enjoy seeing some of the gnomes and some of the clever signs. In the upper left corner is a Crow Gnome Eater (chronometer) and beneath that a heap of look-alike lady gnomes placed there by the members of the ‘Shirley Club’. The club members are all called ‘Shirley’ and have numbers to distinguish one from another. There are now thousands of gnomes stretching for several hundred metres along one side of a country road. It’s a very tranquil place but I think it would be quite spooky at night.

@judyev I find gnomes to be quite creepy, especially the ones who leer lecherously. I often suspect that when no-one is looking they come alive and act mischievously, moving things around in the garden. This is why nothing is ever where you left it.

@xFiacre I never liked gnomes, same with clowns, they are creepy.

That's why I wouldn't want to be out there after dark. There is no knowing what they might get up to.

@LadyDuck I do remember, Anna, that you're not keen on clowns and gnomes

That's one place I won't be putting on my wish-list of places to visit. I did enjoy the film 'Gnomeo and Juliet' though, have you seen it?

@JudyEv No, not really a gnome fan. And especially not the ones that are doing rude things. The film is fun though, and has good music (Elton John).

So you're not too keen on lots of gnomes? I haven't seen the film. I'll watch out for it.

It is indeed a nice place but why do you think it is creepy at night?

I suppose because there are such a lot of gnomes. There are literally thousands and in the dark with perhaps just a torch it could be a bit scary.

I think gnomes are cute. All of them. I don't have any in my garden. Not sure why. I backup my photos to a portable external hard drive and I am always deleting old and duplicate photos.

I have my photos quite nicely filed but many are huge in format. I copy them and make the copy smaller but that means I have a lot of duplicates too. So I'm trying to rationalise them a bit.

@JudyEv I try to delete all the time. I have many duplicates as well. It is a never ending process.

I know an author that would love this place. She puts up about her gnomes all the time.

Some love them and have lots in their gardens. There are thousands at Gnomesville now. A lot got washed away once when the little creek that runs through there flooded.

@JordanLader It was like a disaster area. The locals got together and tidied it all up again.

Oh, that’s adorable. We have a putter we nicknamed “Gnome” because he’s short (5’4”), so anything gnome-y reminds me of him in addition to being so cute on their own!

There are gnomes here from all over the world or at least the people who put them there are from all over the world.

@JudyEv I know that for a while here in Switzerland the gnomes disappeared from the gardens. I do not know if this stopped.

Some are a bit 'in y our face'. We like to take visitors there without telling them much about it. It's funny to see the look on their faces.

Oh wow! Hey, have you thought on getting an external hard drive? I got one of those for my music collection. Works nicely. Have come down a lot in price since they first came out. I spent around $40 and got 32 GB. That's awesome though about the Gnomesville I love the creativity

How funny that all are called Shirley and are identified by their number. It would be a fun place to be with children.
