I'm cooking a roast in the crock pot for supper tonight

and, this time I remembered to plug it in. My husband is getting tired of his limited food choices. He's limited because he can't eat certain greens and certain vegetables or it can thicken his blood and he's on blood thinners. I would call him a semi-picky eater. He'll eat what I make but doesn't enjoy many leftovers or the same foods over and over again. Today it's supposed to be another hot day as it might get up to 97 degrees or so. I'm hoping the crockpot will keep the kitchen cooler than using the oven would. I'm not cleaning windows today because of the heat, so I'm going to continue working on the things I didn't get done last week once I finish my coffee.

I am only serving cold meals until the heat wave is not over.

@LadyDuck today is cooler but still supposed to be in the nineties. I'm trying out pork chops in the slow cooker which I've never done before.

I'll try to stay cool. I'm my house I should be okay but when I leave for work it'll probably be pretty hot by then.

@CarolDM I only have to walk from the house to the van and then the van into work so it shouldn't be too bad.

@MarshaMusselman Take it easy. Heat can be so draining.

It can be really difficult to come up with a varied menu if food choices are restricted.

It's worse than I expected it would be.

Sometimes, I plug in the Crock-Pot outside to prevent adding any heat! Sounds delicious. I am hoping to be productive today. Looks like it's the first day of my summer vacation. No one has me booked to substitute teach these last few days!

I don't have an outside plug other than in the garage and I wouldn't want any critters to smell it and get to it first if that would even happen.

Maybe you could get some take out that doesn't interfere with his diet, and sort of vary the routine a bit.

When I'm home I do try to vary his diet but when he cooks for himself he gets stuck in a rut. At this point getting take out isn't an option.

A roast sounds delicious and I think the crockpot won't heat up the kitchen very much.

Ha :) Oh how nice. It's 97 here right now as well but trying to get some work done just in case - taking some breaks - out of breath. I still have yet to eat from a crock pot, but I remember a friend telling me it was the best, although it takes so long. Someone else said "Beware of the fires!" Enjoy the food and time together!

There shouldn't be any fires with a crock pot unless the wires are frayed or something. It's one of the ways to cook something without having to stick around.

@PinkFloydFan I use my oven to store fry pans.

@MarshaMusselman My idea of cooking is putting something in the microwave, lol... I have an oven, but use it for storage :)
