Thanks to the actions of Black Bear Support Biologist (BBR) Janelle Musser who along with officials of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) worked together to do their best efforts to save a cub who had the bad luck of having a plastic jar inside of his head.
The incident where the agents were called to make an attempt to save the bear from dying from hunger began on June 13 at the Covered Bridge Resort in the Wears Valley in Sevier County thanks to the alert of a concerned person who saw that the cub needed help.
The rescue of the bear happened yesterday afternoon when the rescue teams with the help of a local businessman who gave the officials of the BBR and TWRA so they could allow Janelle to climb up the ladder where the cub was located halfway up a tree where she used a catch pole around the container which was successful in getting the jar out of the head of the cub.
Then the other officials with the ABR to capture the bear to be taken to their place where the bear make a full recovery.
It is amazing that a cub could survive eight days without having anything to eat for eight days after having his head stuck inside of a jar that the cub found on the ground.

I am so glad that cub was rescued and it is just terrible that people leave that kind of garbage behind,

I agree with you that persons should pick up after their litter and not leave it on the ground at parks.

@Deepizzaguy it is true we should take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints. We must protect the wildlife.

The same message Janelle is telling persons in the woods to be careful leaving food on the park grounds.

@Deepizzaguy Many animals are also hurt by the tin cans that people throw. The metal is sharp.

Animals have the strong tummy stamina to survive for several days or weeks without eating.

I did not know that about animals having great stamina.

@Deepizzaguy That's practical point of you. How could they survive if their stamina is weak?

I always wonder why animals get their heads into jars

Animals will usually do what they can to eat food even if it means risking their lives getting their heads stuck inside of a jar.

I agree with you that the cub is lucky to be alive after not eating any food could have ended his life at a young age.

That poor cub having to go for 8 days without anyone helping him. He certainly is fortunate that Janelle was able to get that jar off his head.

It's by God's grace that the bear cub stayed alive for 8 days without food and it's a miracle too.
