Driving Schools a requirement for getting Driver's License

As I said in my last post, we made the decision to enroll our kid in a driving school. Anyone requesting a driver's license must now be certified by an approved driving school. Since my dad is now living elsewhere with his partner and they already have a car, my father has given his old vehicle to us. I plan to give this to my son who will use this when their face-to-face classes begins and once, he is able to obtain a driver's license. Hopefully, this will simplify his travel from home to school.

We also need to enroll in a driving school before we can obtain a driving license.

@LadyDuck In my time that was not a requirement. But I guess nowadays we are now having a lot of irresponsible drivers around prompting the government to add more requirements before getting one.

@Adie04 There are additional requirements needed. I think I have to take this online test to pass before I can renew my license. Although that is free at the moment I just need to pass it and after that, i can renew my license with them.

We don't have such requirements here. I learned to drive from my younger brother and obtained a driving license from the authority.

In Australia, you have to be taught by a qualified driving instructor too. It's different from when I went for my licence.

Same here, they are making it harder to get a license. You have to spend attending to school to be able to get one. I was just taught by my uncle to drive and then I appplied and passed it then I am ok.

@JudyEv Yes, it appears that professional training is really what we need to have improved road safety. I believe that is the primary reason the licensing office has introduced this.

@rsa101 It was much the same for me but now the kids have a log book and they have to do so many hours driving in the rain and on gravel roads, etc.

Having a Car available during training session will be good add on for your son. As now your kid and practice points told in class and you can also add few pointers for him Here when I learnt Driving, I had no Car to practice it. The day I bought it, by that time I forgot everything what was taught at Driving Class

I see I guess you have a point there. I think that you can practice what you've learned when you have a real car to drive on.

It happens with most people that's why we should learn to drive a car when we have it. I remember my brother's wife also learned to drive before they bought it and by the time they bought it she forgot it.
28 Jun 22
@sjvg1976 You know how Dad's are. You join the class learning any thing doesn't go waste , And he added by the time class ends we will have a new car . And that statement took 5 years to come true Forgot to add - He asked me to buy it on Loan @rsa101 Correct That will help him Good luck to him and don't let touch your car after his first 3 sessions He will be highly motivated with no actual information

Same here you are not allowed to drive without a license no matter how good driver you are. You always need to pass the practical and theroretical exams.

I think it is good to take driving school before getting a drivers license because the person will get an idea on how it is to be driving and learn about rules of the street

In our country, obtaining drivers' license is very expensive but people who need it don't care because they need the license.

@averygirl72 Yes, and I believe it's for the better since, as you can see in the news, many people who have driving licenses are just too careless and ignorant of traffic laws.

Yes they say you have to get familiarized with theoretical and then practical driving. Then they will assess if you are ready to take the driving license exams.

I think he is old enough to get a DL now and now that we have a working vehicle he might use it to good use to travel to his school instead of commuting.

That was before. I too did learn how to drive that way too. But at present, I think it is needed already so that everyone would get to be familiarized with the road safety information that we have here in the Philippines. I also tried to read the book provided by the school and there are lot of info that I learned from there.

@yoalldudes Getting driving lessons is advised if you own a car, but if you sign up and don't use them, it's possible that you'll forget what you learned.

I hope he will understand so that he can drive responsibly in the future. I believe that the government created this because formal education serves some sort of purpose.
