Keeping my 7 Year old Entertained

This has been a chore, but I am managing to keep Little Miss busy this summer. We go to the local library at least once a week. She chooses 3 books to read. We then return home for lunch. Sometimes I’ll pack a lunch and we go to her school’s playground for a picnic. Usual we have a friend visiting and they enjoy playing together. The splash pad is open during the day. The weather hasn’t been great so we have yet to go there. Hoping to bring her this week. I promised myself that we wouldn’t spend all day inside the house. I hate the humid weather but am pushing myself to get outdoors! So far so good! Do you struggle to get outside in the hot and humid weather? How do you stay cool?

I’ll turn mine on when I’m cooking dinner tonight. The windows are open today because it’s decent weather today.

@ElusiveButterfly Ohh nice! Well we also have windows open but its just hard to live alongside a highway as when someone go high speed you can really see the smoke from vehicles.

Having a nice shower and then sitting in front of the fan do help a bit.

The library is such a nice place to frequent when you have kids. Nice to get outside. We have a greenbelt here along the river. There are cool spots in certain areas and it is nice for the kids. Going out in the earlier hours of the day when it is cooler is nice. It was triple digits here yesterday.

We are heading to the library tomorrow. My hope is to bring the girls to the splash pad for a little while.

The only thing keeping me indoors are those pesky gnats that jump into my face when I'm trying to work out there, they get into my eyes and then my eyes swell up and I can hardly see. There is little to no humidity with it gets really hot here.

Thankfully there was a nice breeze so it made it somewhat tolerable.

I normally stay at home. I like humid weather if it's raining and cool. Have a nice day with your 7 year old.

@aninditasen when it is really hot and humid we stay inside to keep cool. Once the sun goes down we go outside.

My mother-in-law would run the cold water in her shower and it would cool her house down a little bit.

It's rarely humid here. I'll be spending a week with my grandson. He gets our daily due to baseball, and the rest of the time it's computer games! Hoping to find something he'd be willing to go do.

I am not a spring and summer person, so I keep myself in climates with four seasons that look and feel like four different and separate seasons. I lived in Florida for twenty-five years. So you cannot convince me that winter in Florida is longer than two days in February. It is not. But, spring in the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions does last until the end of June. So that is helpful for me. Still, 90°F+ is 90°F+ no matter where you live (humidity included or not). And am blind, so I can't drive. I walk to most of the places I go. That means, whenever possible, I go out in the mornings, and I avoid going out on days when I know rain or thunderstorms are possible (even if not expected until late in the evening). I wear loose-fitting clothing, wraparound sunglasses, and a floppy hat. And, when I am feeling overheated, I stop somewhere for a cup of coffee or hot tea to avoid heatstroke and get my body temperature regulated to where it should be.

I live in New England and loathe the winter months. It was cold right into June this year. Had to fire up the furnace in the morning to chase the chill out of the air.

It's a struggle, I end up staying under a shed and having a cold drink like ice cream, water, soda

I can’t drink cold drinks when it’s hot. It makes me nauseous,
