A good softball game tonight.

I do not write about it here much, as I know that most MyLotters are not into sports. But I have enjoyed playing baseball and softball for most of my life. I would say it was a major part of my "identity" when I was younger. But as I age, I become less competitive, and more into other things. Tonight, my team had a game against another good team, and we drubbed them. I hit well, played good defense, and had a good time. One of the things that helped me was that I visited the pool this afternoon and just loosened up my muscles. Have you ever enjoyed sports? Do you respect people who play sports, or do you think that people who play sports are "stupid," as my brother does? I feel that we should honor others' interests, no matter how far from our own they might be.

I've never been very interested in sports but, when Pretty and Ricky were into sports as kids, I went to every game and cheered them on. (Since the parents weren't "allowed" to cheer for our children, I cheered for both teams playing at the time. Most of the parents thought I was stupid for doing so, but I wanted the kids to know someone was paying attention and cared. *shrug* Pretty and Ricky told me afterward that all the kids were happy someone paid attention and was willing to cheer them on.) I would go and cheer for the teams playing when you're there, if that would make people happy... (I haven't been to any sports games since Pretty stopped playing softball after she graduated from High School.)

@TheHorse If you'd like, I could call you and cheer both teams on when you're playing ball games, too.

My husband was a pro soccer player. He also played for our country in one of the World Cup games.

So you don't hate athletes, I take it? Or think we're all stupid?

@TheHorse Of course not. I imagine some are. As in any type of work.

I only enjoy to play golf and bocce and of course I respect those who play sports, they are not at all stupid. Of course also some of those who play sports are stupid, this seems a common disease among humans.

@TheHorse My Dad was a very good bocce player. I learned to play from him when I was only 6 years old.

Bocce sounds like a lot of fun. A nice way for people to get together.

@LadyDuck I bet you remember those days fondly. I play "rolly catch" with my 2-year-olds.

I used to enjoy watching baseball and football. I still do, but not as much. I'd rather be out hiking or something.

I don't mind what hobbies/sports people are into as long as they don't impinge on others. While I'm not really into sports, I think it's great for keeping people fit physically and mentally.

Some college athletes (at the higher levels) aren't really "students." But at lower levels, sports participation is positively associated with academic achievement and self-esteem.

@TheHorse I can believe that, especially the self-esteem bit.

Great picture. I enjoy sports -- football, volleyball, tennis -- watching not participating. The only sport I was ever good at was volleyball.

That's a cool sport! I was never great at it, but I respect those who play it.

I enjoy sports. I own a small chain of ladies' oil wrestling teams. But I'm not overly competitive. I really don't care if my girls win or lose, as long as they enjoy playing.

Sounds like you have a good time playing softball, The only sport I loved in my younger days was bowling, But I have not bowled in ages and now have no one to go with or even know where there is a bowling alley
