Do You Like When a Book Has a Sequel?

Happy Wednesday Everyone! another nice sunny day here today.
I didn't sleep well last night so I'm up earlier than usual. Hoping my coffee kicks in and gives me the energy to do the things I want to accomplish today.
Since I was up early I decided to read my book. When I find a book I like and it's good, the best news is there's a sequel.
Harlan Coben is one of my favorite authors and a lot of his books have become Netflix series.
The latest one I wanted to watch is called The Woods but since it's based on a book, I wanted to read the book first.
The book is called The Boy From The Woods. It's a mystery and I loved it. The sequel came out recently which is The Match and it picks up where the first book leaves off. The sequel is just as good as the first and I'm hating to put it down when I have other things that need my attention.
I'm sure I'll finish it either today or tomorrow and then I can see how the Netflix series compares to the books.
Do you like books that have sequels? or made into movies or tv series?

I don't have any preference if books have sequels. If they have sequels, I hope they are just as good as the first. I read the novel Jurassic Park before it was made into a movie.

If a story is really good and I like the characters then I'm happy if there's a sequel.
I only saw the movie Jurassic Park but never saw any of the following movies from that first one.

@Beestring I did enjoy the first one but don't know why I never got around to seeing the rest. Maybe I didn't miss anything but not seeing any more

@Marilynda1225 I personally think that the first one was the best.

@Marilynda1225 Exactly and many times I am deceived by the choice of the actors. I like Tom Hanks as Professor Langdon, in all movies from Dan Brown books, but not at all the two female partners he as in the Da Vinci Code and Inferno. They did not correspond at all to the characters in the book.

I always like to compare a good book to the movie especially to see if the actors or actresses they choose fit the description of the character in the book

Sometimes yes, but sometimes the sequel isn't readily avaiable. I am reading the Therapist by B.A. Parris, this doesn't appear to be one of her better books though. She is great with the psychological terror things I like to read..but this one so far is a let down. I am hoping it will improve as I continue.

I never read any books by B. A. Parris. How your book gets better and that it isn't a total let-down

I hope you like it when you get around to reading it. The next one The Match picks up where the Woods leaves off but it's not necessary to have to read The Match. I was just happy that it gives more background on the main character

@Marilynda1225 I like a series that gives enough information in each book that you get a sense of the background of the characters.

Same with me. I always am happy with a sequel if the story is interesting enough to want to know more

I do like sequels to books I really love. I never want the story to end.

I have several serial books on my shelves. If a book is well-written with fully realised characters, then of course I'll want to keep seeing what they get up to. Of course, if the book isn't all that good, I don't keep them around.

I definitely agree about want to know more if the story line and characters are appealing. Most books I read are stand-alone and wouldn't do well with a sequel.

I absolutely love when I find that a really good book has a series. I don't always enjoy movies from books, though.

I enjoy books that were made into a movie or TV series; and I like reading and watching both.

It depends because sometimes the prequels are better than sequels.

I only read biographies, but I love to read the author's second one, to compare.
