What do you think of fusion restaurants?

Most people probably know what fusion restaurants are, when cuisines of two or more countries are combined in dishes. Some times they also might serve dishes of two countries. At one time I thought fusion restaurants were "out to lunch" so to speak lol. I thought stay in your lane if you are Chinese serve Chinese, serve Italian etc. However, I have been to a few I liked. Today's visit was to a combined Mexican and Mediteranean place and I thought it was really, really good. I got a burrito bowl of sorts that had elements of both including hummus, guac and Tzatki or however you spell it sauce. The dish also included carrot rice a first and really tasty, and kalamata olives. There were other things, you could pick what you wanted. I also had their avocado lemonade and coconut bread. Interesting place and really very good. I wish they had it in this community, but I had to go to the next county. It was pretty far away. I hadn't meant to go that far, but having an early start on senility, I got the two towns mixed up, and thought I was going to the closer one, but even when I found out it was far, I had read so many positive things about the restaurant online, I had to try it.

Some are good and know how to combine flavors that go well together and some are really bad.

@LadyDuck That's probably true too. However, nowadays most people read reviews before they dine somewhere new, and if they don't have good ones, they will likely go elsewhere.

I don't think a bad one would last too long.

@snowy22315 Some last for quite a long time in big tourist cities, not in small cities, where you know if a restaurant is not good.

Usually the word fusion means a combination right?

@Adie04 It would probably have to be from different countries to be considered to a true fusion though. I mean you can make some simple ones like Chilgetti, chili and pasta for example, but a true one has food from different countries combined.

@snowy22315 I love a combination of food. I mean a food fusion. But I would eat it myself though.

There are many here - some good, some bad - many expensive (but apparently that's pretty much all restaurants these days). There's one place out here I always have to laugh . . . they are a sushi and burger place - not exactly fusion but it looks like they're trying to be a fast food fusion .

The one I thought was fairly hysterical was the combination of Jewish and African cuisine. It is called the Jew Fro. How funny is that? Sadly, it just got vandalized.

@Marilynda1225 I bet there are some if this po dunk place them, I am sure they would where you live. There is one here that I don't know if it is techincally a fusion but they offer Chinese as well as a lot of seafood. It's pretty good.

@snowy22315 we don't have many restaurants here in town but maybe there are some a town or so over. I think it would be interesting to have a variety of food to choose from

You find them in various places, usually in cities, but not always. Some trendy places like fusion cuisine can be found in smaller areas.

I have to admit that we do not eat out much, so we have not tried this type of cuisine. Our son loves that type of thing, there are some places here in our city that he goes to to enjoy that.

Sounds delish. I like trying food my other countries. One fusion restaurant that I have to is Chinese-Korean. Quite expensive but the food was really out of this world. Worth every penny.

Oh..it might not be for you. Do you have to have all your foods separated and stuff like that?

Do they serve vegetarian dishes too?

It's very common here in our place especially those small eateries. They serve variety of foods like Chinese, Japanese and the Filipino cuisine.
