Need to get rid of a lot of junk

There is lots of stuff in the house that needs to go. We have an old dishwasher that was left in our garage by previous tenants that my parents were renting the house to. There is an old tube TV with the frame removed and cathode ray tube sticking out (which was done by hubby) is taking up space in the living room. An old dryer is standing in the middle of the basement that Home Depot never hauled away because it had to be disconnected from the gas when delivery guys came. And there is more stuff in the garage that needs to go.
The best thing to do would probably be to call a junk removal company and have them come and take away all of our stuff. But that's gonna cost hundreds of dollars probably and my mom doesn't want to pay for that. Neither do I.
The dishwasher along with some other stuff in the garage can just be taken outside for the sanitation to pick up. But can't do that with the damn TV. You can no longer throw TVs out into the garbage. The dryer is recyclable but there is no way I am gonna haul that thing up a flight of stairs and to the curb, even if it will be hubby and I.

It's too bad you don't want to use the junk removal company because they will take any and everything away for you. I wish I could suggest something. There are some appliance repair shops that will take old appliances.

Have to look into how much it will cost. Maybe it won’t be that bad.

@lovebuglena It will be several hundred dollars from most of them; but it doesn't hurt to call. You could get lucky!

ask around to see any local person who recycles to get by in life, would be willing to take it out for you and to scrap for thier own need.(i wouldve done it myself, but i didnt have a truck) thats how i got rid of a couple of washing machines, i just kept the tubs, they make great bon fire tubs and planters. or last resort, dismantle it piece by piece over time.

That's understandable. How are you supposed to dispose of the t.v. if it can't visit a landfill?

There is a safe disposal event here a few times a year. I think you can get rid of TVs there but it’s on the day hubby works, which is a Saturday.

@lovebuglena That really does kind of suck. And, I'm assuming you don't have anyone else to help?

Ugh! I feel your pain. I wonder if you could find someone on something like TaskRabbit to help you. They do charge fees. But maybe you could find someone whose charge is reasonable.

Disposing junks isn't a problem here. There are some scrap buyers roaming around the city looking for scraps to buy.

I am thinking if you see a private truck that takes junk may be cheaper

That's a good idea. Call 1800 Junk and have them take it away. I don't think it would cost you that much money. Contact them for a free quote. Or you can let the garbage men take it away.

I wanna have sanitation take as much as possible as it’s free. Whatever sanitation can’t/won’t take I will have to figure out how to get rid of.
