Many Australians who traveled to Indonesia said to me that it was cheap to travel to Indonesia in addition to Indonesia being very close. It only takes 2 hours by plane. Secondly, according to some of them that Indonesia consists of more than 27 regions with varied tribal languages and customs. Most Australian I ever met told me they had seen most of the regions.
They had bought traveling guide books before they visited the country so that they had the knowledge of traditions and customs.

Yes. I'm very glad that Australians chooses Indonesia as one of their tourist destinations. Just to let you know, some of the Australians also considers Philippines as well.

Philippines is not far away either. The travel cost may be low as well.

@yanzalong There are no direct flights from Switzerland, the Emirates is the one that goes faster with a change.

You would likely rank among the largest nations in Southeast Asia, in my opinion. Despite the fact that you are on different islands, It's intriguing that there are so many different religions present there, as well as a diverse population. I am aware that you also have a percentage of Buddhists, Muslims, and Christians there.

@yanzalong I am glad that there is such harmony in how they treat one another. I think it should not be an issue if people would practice different religious practices.

I remember the advert back then on CNN on Indonesia tourism. It always ended with ''Indonesia truly Asia''

Good info, never been and even in military US never seen anyone deployed there. Probably a great thing for your country.
Interesting about 27 regions of tribes. do they fight a lot?

That's the usually things for the tourists to do in going to places where they've never been before - guide book or tourism brochure.

It depends on your interest. Central Java has the biggest temple. Krui in West Lampung has a beautiful beach very good for surfing, which is now attracting tourists around the world.

As you say, Indonesia is very close to Australia. Bali is especially close to WA and a favourite holiday spot.

Thank you @yanzalong. Vince's brother lives there now, in the region out from Denpasar. He has a lung condition and finds the weather suits him there. He has been there a good few years and is in his 80s now. We might try to get over to visit him one day.
