Matthew 4:17

From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
Several years ago I read "At the Earth's Core" by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Two men burrow down in a device towards the center of the earth, and once they arrive they can't believe there are actual people living in a vast cavern.
Somehow there was light below (this was written in 1914), and when the men tried to tell others about the land above, our sun, our oceans, our mountains, flowers, trees, the stars and galaxies--no one would believe them.
They couldn't comprehend what the men were saying. To them the entire universe was the earth's core and there wasn't any other place. Most people decided the two were insane.
That's how many people feel about the light of Jesus Christ, they don't believe it is real and turn away from Him.
To receive this light we must repent, which means to turn from our sinful ways and pray for forgiveness.
I understand that it can be challenging to admit to being a sinner but the reward is so beautiful, and forgiving everyone that has hurt us as well as being forgiven by God--it is total freedom.
I know everyone will not agree with this post, and that's OK. Some times I love to write about my faith.
Thank you for reading.

What a good way to put it Indeed, there could be a better place than where we are right now. with so much suffering and pain. I am sure there's a better world where we can have peace and love finally and live in cooperation with each other. Such a beautiful thought.

Thank you. I'm don't think we will find that world on earth, but in Heaven our joy and happiness will have no end.

I think your parallel with the Burroughs book is brilliant! Did you come up with that on your own?

Thank you. Yes, it was all my idea. I always like to compare things when I write, because it helps make a point.

@snowy22315 Apparently, this has been done before about cave dwellers, this information comes from another comment to this post. I am positive I never read this before, and even though it's different from mine, it's about the same thing, seeing the light of Jesus Christ in the darkness.

I have seen similar allegories too before.
Max Lucado's story of the cave dwellers has a good message too.
Yes, we must accept the light of Jesus Christ, and God, to stop being cave dwellers in our minds, living away from the love in our hearts.

My devotion this morning, my first hour was John 12.
Jesus is the light whoever believes in Him will be out of darkness. Who sees Him sees the one who sent Him.

@misunderstood_zombie And Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me. And whoever sees me sees him who sent me. I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.
John 12:44-46 ESV
And Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me. And whoever sees me sees him who sent me. I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believe

Yes, that one is so much better than the remake. I love Jules Verne books.

I'm the same way. I wish they would make more Christian scifi books instead of romance ones.

That's a book by Jules Verne. Burroughs wrote Tarzan, and the John Carter and Mars movie that came out a while back.
I liked the original Journey to center of the Earth, but one came out with the Rock a few years ago that I didn't like very much.

@Kandae11 They really do most of the time. Another movie that fell short was Jumanji again with the Rock acting in it. I liked the original so much better.
