Sunday morning.. cozy bed, mylotting

Happy Sunday morning from this side of the planet . It's 8:15 AM here. The sun is trying to sneak through the clouds but seems that soon it will give upto the clouds and it would be another gloomy rainy day. My biological clock woke me up at 5:30 in the morning and then I had to remind myself of the Sunday morning and stay a little longer in bed.. I got up at 7, cleaned some dishes and boiled the milk. Now, I am back in the cozy bed.. It's a perfect thing to do on such cold rainy morning . Would wait for husband to wake up and then we can have our morning tea together.. Nothing much planned for the day, keeping the weekend lazy and slow. The things are prepped for a brunch. My nephew also might join us today. He got into a good MBA school here and he spent first week of the month with us before shifting to the hostel last weekend. It's Sunday music class for my younger daughter. She is getting ready for it. It starts at 10 and will be till 1. It's the first physical class after the pandemic and they are keeping it once a week on Sunday as most in her batch are grown up and have long hours at college or pre University. They have two classes online in weekdays. But they want to meet once a week to practice together and maybe put a show in October. I drove her to these classes all these years till the pandemic. Today would be the first time that she would be going alone. She would book an auto and go. I am happy for the independence but also a bit worried about the safety. But guess! That's how they grow up. She would turn 16 in October. And then she can go for gearless scooty driving( two wheeler). Well, that's the plan my husband has. But I never drove a two wheeler and have never been comfortable with the thought of it. I ride my bicycle. That's another fear I have to overcome. We had the same plan with the elder one but when she turned 16, the pandemic ruined all the plans for the two years. Now, she is 18 and would be moving to other city from August for her college life. Hopefully, when she comes for vacations, her dad can teach her two wheeler riding and I can give her some car driving lessons. She is 18 and can go for driving geared vehicles and have her driving licence. Sending her to a driving school in next vacation is our plan for now. Well, she is moving too far from us and would visit us only during long vacations. We are surely going to miss her. But that's a part of life. And it's all about accepting and moving on Have a good time in your mylot corner. Hope everyone is having a good weekend

A lot happening! And it seems that kids grow up so fast! We had our morning cup of tea. One of my child has some cold and a Periodic Test tomorrow so a bit worried. Might give Allegra as a one stop measure. Anyways, heavy rains yesterday cooled the things a lot. It was windy and pleasant by the evening. Expecting more rains today. Have a great Sunday! Njoy !!

@arunima25 We had her give her exam. Then took her back home. It was a bit tedious for us but as parents we have to do a lot for bringing up our kids.

I have a lot of movements going on here. Many lists to be taken care of before she leaves for the hostel. I plan to finish most of her shopping this week after work. Prefer to keep weekends free. Hope your child feels better for the test tomorrow. It might be due to the season changes. Glad to know that the rain brought some relief from the heat.

@dfollin Hmm... it's my afternoon ritual. I take a power nap of 20_40 minutes in the afternoon on working days. I am awake at 5 am and by 3 pm, my body needs to shut down for a while to rejuvenate and carry on for rest of the evening till 10_11 pm. It's like a battery charger . On weekends, I can miss the nap or go for a longer one

That's a good plan, I am also thinking to buy a battery-operated scooter once my kids pass the 10th standard as they dont require a license for it. I think that will save us time and money we spend on school transportation.

@arunima25 that's not bad. I was also scared of driving so learned to drive a car at the age of 32 years and a two-wheeler at the age of 45 years. There is no age of learning.

@sjvg1976 You are right. There is no age for learning. I started driving at 18, but now at 44, I try to avoid it as much as I can. Have shifted to autogear in the last two years as my knees started troubling me with all clutch holding in Bangalore's traffic . Now I drive very less after the pandemic. Daughters are grown up and manage on their own. I don't need to drive them everywhere like earlier. I mostly walk down to school or get a ride from one of the other teacher. I take my car only when I have some place else to go after that.

We hope that the plan goes well. Both my daughters are scared of traffic and riding on roads. They will take some time to overcome that. Well, I think that my younger one is comparatively braver and might go for two wheeler. Elder one is like me and she might straight way go to driving car

I worry about young people on two-wheelers. There isn't much protection on them. E-scooters are the rage here and there has already been some nasty accidents.

Even I have that fear. Car seems so safe to me. Bangalore is a city of two wheelers and most youngsters use bikes and scooty for commutation. It's cheaper and convenient in the traffic. My husband loves his bike and would use it more than his car . Most ladies here in my friend circle too use two wheelers. I often get a ride from them

@JudyEv Yes and Two wheelers have been having more road accidents since the start of Pandemic in 2020. Rash driving is a big reason.

@arunima25 It is possibly safer there for those who use two-wheelers because it is part of the culture. There were a lot of bikes in Nepal too when we were there.

We mostly have cars here. Occasionally a motorcycle. I think a scooter is really like a motorcycle only smaller. Is that right?

Here two wheelers like motorcycle, battery operated ones and scooty are quite common. Yes, scooter is a bit smaller and the engine power is less than that of motorcycle. It's good for short commutation and is easier to maneuver on narrow roads.

@RubyHawk Scooters kind of originated from Italy, especially Vespa brand. I think Scooters are still used in Italy.

Actually after pandemic, I am doing the same . Mostly getting the rides or booking the ola auto. I am not very fond of driving now and try to avoid it. It's been only a few times that I have taken the car out in the last few months after the pandemic. I might keep driving only for emergency purpose in the coming future . We have two cars... husband has Fortuner and mine is mini Santro, good enough for city traffic and driving short distances.

It's hard to let your children move on. Our job is to give them the confidence to go out and begin their adult lives, but when we look at them, part of us will always see that beautiful young child we once held in our arms. I still miss my adult sons, though they are fathers themselves now. I remind myself that they are good, capable men and I want them to thrive. It's wonderful your daughter enjoys her music.

I guess it is a part of life. It changes with stages of life. We have to accept and adapt. Life is all about moving on and I am sure that each stage is beautiful. You are right that a part of us will always stay with our beautiful children. My daughters are totally into music, art, and craft. Elder one enjoys playing guitar and keyboard. Younger one plays keyboard and recorder. She is also a vocal classical singer.

Her birthday comes on Halloween day. We still have few months the go. Thank you for your wishes I am scared of two wheelers and I guess my elder one too will avoid it. She might go for car driving and not learn two wheeler like me. Younger one is brave and loves to ride motor cycle with her Dad. She will be excited. Here two wheelers are very common and popular.
