Sea Urchins wearing cowboy hats

I recently watched a video which tells how sea urchins in the wild will cover their outer bodies with shells, food, and rocks.
He explained that they do this for sun protection, food to eat later, and protection against predator's.
The funny part is the urchins in aquariums wear cowboy hats or Viking hats that the owners provide for them.
On Google images they are also wearing top hats, Mickey Mouse hats, crowns, construction helmets and more. None of these are free to use, so I didn't put one as my image picture.
I just think it's really cute. Sea urchins are so unique but they have a bad habit of eating up all of our kelp forest under the sea, but that's where sea otters come in handy, for this is their favorite dish.

It's just cute and funny. They like things anyway so they just give them something amusing.

I know what you mean, their brains are so small, it's hard to fathom it.

I believe that some are very poisonous but I really don't know that much about them.

Isn't it dangerous for divers? How deep should we be to witness this round sea animal?

I think many of them live closer to shore, but I really don't know that much about them. I did see a video one time where it showed they were eating our kelp forest underwater, but otters and other sea animals are eating them and this helps out.

Sea urchins are beautiful. I have never heard that they cover their bodies for protection.

@misunderstood_zombie I do not know, but a small cowboy hat does not seem to protect a lot.

@LadyDuck It really doesn't, but they are in a tank so they may not need protection.

That is so cool. Maybe only some of them do it.

I haven't either unless I saw one at an aquarium.
