Weird Call Came in This Morning

I got a call this a.m. that was automated and came from Winnipeg, Canada. Looking the number up it was coming from MTS, Inc. which is a global supplier of test systems and industrial sensors. Why would they be verifying the purchase of a computer? It was asking for verification of the purchase of an Apple computer priced at $1400. I, of course, denied purchase and hung up. I don't buy any Apple products anyway. Then a little later I got a call from Maryland that had no audio and I just hung up. Wonder what it was. Don't usually get any calls from Maryland much less from Canada.
Haven't gotten any calls like this in several weeks. A couple of months maybe.
So tired of these fraudulent calls. They worry me and make me wonder.
Are you getting any weird calls?

On rare occasions there have automated calls from the Internal Revenue Service claiming that unless I send them money to cover outstanding debts, the local police will come to my home to take me to jail.
I also have had crank calls from someone claiming to work for Hewlett Packard asking me to pay up a fee to supply security to protect my computer from viruses, the computer will be shut down at midnight.
I just ignore them since the IRS and Hewlett Packard never send telephone messages to their clients.

How frustrating both of those calls must be. IRS wouldn't communicate that way and either would HP. These fraudsters think we are all so dumb.

I wish I would do the same. I get curious as to whether it is my insurance calling. They have so many new and different programs to tell me about.

Yes, and I feel like the one time I don't answer it will be my insurance company.

@celticeagle I missed an important appointment by not answering but when I look closely i can be pretty sure if it’s a real call or spam.

@celticeagle Sometimes, it's hard not to especially if the call is coming near our area code. I think what if it's important.

How did you know the call was from Maryland if there was no audio? Do you have all the area codes memorised?

We get them all day, every day; and you can't go by the telephone number because the fraudulent people can input any phone number they want to use.
